Happy birthday Jelly Biactol, Durham and ekroys :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake:

    Good luck :T:T:T
When you're coming down off Ingleborough, through Sulber Nick, with the village of Horton (and its pubs:)) close at hand, it'll all have been worth it:rotfl:
Remember to clock in at the Pen-y-Ghent cafe if you're planning to do the Challenge (less than 12 hours).

Hi Jelly Biactol have you done the three peaks?
Mortgage debt 45,000. Thank you all for your help so far in helping me save to buy the house. I could not have done this without all your help.

That's useful. Thanks you very much. I will go on a hunt for these later.
This has brought back a vague memory of swimming lessons at school. And the utter shame of having to wear a dreaded rubber sock if you had a verruca:eek::rotfl::rotfl:

I can't imagine how you manage to stay so cheerful Fairclaire when you're contending with so much. Your description of creeping into ds's room when he's asleep to try and treat his athletes foot made me chuckle at first but then I thought about how shattered you must feel with yet another thing to do which interrupts your sleep. It's also another thing for your ds to cope with as athletes foot can get very itchy and painful.

I think antifungal socks sound a really good idea. The ones on the podiatrist website contain copper and are rather expensive  . However, silver has a similar inhabiting effect on bacteria and fungi. If you go on the M&S website and search for 'freshfeet' it brings up a large number of socks, shoes and slippers for both children and adults that are all impregnated with silver. I'm certainly not an expert but f you can afford to blitz the problem by using all three then perhaps this might help.

Apologies if I am teaching my granny to suck eggs here but do you wash ds's socks separately in either a very hot wash (to kill fungi) or sterilise them in some way? If not, that might be worth trying.

Or how about sprinkling some anti-fungal powder inside the socks before he puts them on? If you used white socks ds probably wouldn't see it! Do you think he would notice/tolerate the sensation?

Finally, as a way to gradually increase his sensory problems and reduce his reliance on wearing socks 24/7, do you think this sort of thing might help?

    Best of luck.

Thanks Nenen. All input gratefully received. This problem is a new one to me! As I said earlier I think as long as his feet are covered, he won't mind. It's all part of some very complex sensory problems he has.
A few years ago we took part in a clinical research programme into ASD. It was as useful to us as it was to the researchers. He had a lot of tests etc carried out that aren't generally available in the health care system. He had a full sensory profiling test done which was very in depth. It uncovered lots of explanations for 'odd' things going on with him. One of which was a lack of sensory feedback in his legs and feet (that is his brain doesn't always get the message that his feet have touched the floor when he walks etc) It explains why he walks awkwardly, it also explains his urge to bounce on the trampoline the way he does. It's his way of getting that sensory feedback that is missing.
He doesn't like wearing shorts either. I guess it's all connected. I think maybe he feels a cold sensation because of it?

Hi Jelly Biactol have you done the three peaks?

    Not all in one go:o
I've done them individually, and two at a time in various permutations:)
Pen-y-Ghent is my favourite of the three, I think; the classic route is from Horton straight up the 'nose' of Pen-y-Ghent, but a great walk to that summit is from Litton, along Littondale and up onto Plover Hill, along the ridge, to approach Pen-y-Ghent via the back door as it were, then back along the Pennine Way to Litton - a full day's outing (14 miles) but lovely on a long summer day; ending with a drink in the Queens Arms, or the Falcon in nearby Arncliffe (the original Woolpack in 'Emmerdale Farm', TV geeks).
