My sister was scammed by this person about 5 months ago - people get their comeuppance in the end. He took £90 from her to buy a part for a machine she needed fixing.

Fake electrical engineer gets 15-month sentence

A serial conman who tricked customers out of money by claiming he could fix their electrical appliances has been jailed for 15 months.

Henry Douglas, 52, of Flush Park, Lisburn, admitted 11 charges of fraud, one charge of theft and one of obstructing a police officer.

The judge said Douglas had shown no remorse for his actions.

He added: "You are little less than a determined conman and confidence fraudster."

    'Hour of need'

The court was told Douglas placed advertisements in the Yellow Pages and community newspapers claiming to be an electrical engineer, when he had no such qualification.

He would visit homes, dismantle cookers, washing machines or dishwashers and then disappear with money which he had taken from the occupants for parts.

The judge said that Douglas had "targeted vulnerable people in their hour of need".

The 15-month sentence includes six months for breaching a suspended sentence for similar offences.

In a similar vein have you ever heard of those people who run raffles for charities- the ones that are scams. There's a few of those going about at the minute. Be very careful folks - they can reel you in especially on topics like cancer that are very close to most peeps hearts.

I did get down to my target weight - but its an absolute s** to keep the weight off ! I don't overeat exessively on 'normal days' but I'm still havng to do 2 fasts a week to keep the pounds from piling on.

Yesterday morning I weighed 9 st 7 lbs (fast the previous day). This morning I was up to 9 st 7.5 lbs - slice of toast for breakfast, moderate portion of pasta with chicken and mushrooms at lunchtime and a small portion of apple and blackcurrant pie last night. OK, so not wildly healthy or low calorie but the food itself could only have weighed 1lb at most and I widdled for England all day and in the night. So where the hell has 2.5 lbs come from ?

Firstly have you had your thyroid checked? Think you dropped down to 3 fast days a week and it was still relatively slow in coming off? :o

Your day does seem to be carb heavy - if you don't mind me saying :o and if your not very active then that just makes it more difficult. For every gram of carb you eat your body will naturally hold on to 4 grams of water. Ergo carby days play havoc with the scales.
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

I only make the difference 0.5lbs? Am I missing something? :o

I always tried to do my weigh in each week couple of days after my last fast day because of the ups and downs of it. Have done a week of fasting yesterday. And today looks like I have lost 4lb since bank holiday Monday. But will weigh again tomorrow to make sure. ;)

I hope you find a way of keeping the weight off now you have done so well. :T

I've just ordered a new washing maching this morning as our one died:eek::eek: it was only 2 yo but to be honest with the amount we use it - it was about 50 yo for most people:o the longest one has lasted us is 3 years so we always get one for about £250  but if we have to mess about with getting it fixed I think it will cost more and the time waiting to get it sorted with my lots of dirty monkeys it's not worth the time, hassle and money:o

It's bound to have been already mentioned, as is 'hottest' on HUKD, but just to say - I have just done the Amazon Appstore 'coins' earner on my laptop - you don't need to go near your phone (if you already have the Amazon Appstore App installed on it). Just a few clicks and you have over £20 of credit for Appstore purchases :)
