I'm not looking forward to having a brace but my front teeth really bother me and are jammed so tight I can't floss them.

I was offered a brace on NHS when I was 15 but I was sooo scared of the dentist!!
I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammar :)

he'll be 13 next month FC

 i hope i don't have to do that with DS2  i have had a chat with him again this afternoon about possibly having to have teeth taken out by our dentist & he asked me if he will be asleep if they do it & had to be honest with him & tell him he'd be awake but they'd give him an injection so it won't hurt & would just feel them pulling on the tooth
i bet you're not looking forward to the bill  do they let you pay in installments? definitely worth you paying if it helps him :)

Nearly the same age then. DS2 is 13 in September. I'm waiting until the summer holidays to have it done. Less disruption to the routine. Hopefully your son will be ok. I think my DS reaction to some stuff is quite extreme.
I don't know if they would allow instalments? I guess they would. I'm just going to raid my savings and get it over with in one go *gulp*

Ben & Jerry's ice creams (500ml tubs) showing as £4.70 S vs £2.00 A on msm. May be a bit too dear - A's own brand Rocky Road was £1 several years ago and Butterkist Toffee Popcorn version £1.50 in A (itself too expensive for what you get). But comparison to £2 (on the Ben & Jerry's) may be mitigated by the £4 off - treat it as about a £3 off voucher instead if so (losing £1 per tub bought, as my (unrealistic?:D) guide price is £1). Of course SP 2L boxes are about 80p (on vs T or, not Northern Ireland, vs M) - and cheaper standard ones were available before when Waities was cheaper on its standard version than the SP cost.

    HTH, somehow:D.

Sorry not been about for most of the week, was my Aunties funeral yesterday. Difficult day, :( especially for her close family and my Mum who had to be taken out of hospital for the afternoon. But obviously she wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I was very MSE and made her tribute with 3 small flower bunches from Lidls and a large selection I cut from my folks garden. This was from me and my 3 sisters. The family requested that not much was spent on flowers as they were taking donations for charity. :A

You get a choice of colours from these little rubber band typre things that go on the front of them...I think its something that the girls like but perhaps its not the done thing for teenage boys...

The colours can be changed each time you visit the dentist which is about every 8 weeks or so...

I did try and persuade him to go for red white and blue when it was the jubilee but no success...i think the most colour we ever got was grey or clear bands.

Not really done any catching up, but just checked previous page and thought i'd reply to this, as my DS has knowledge having almost completed his treatment.

These are the colours he can remember, they are small rubber pieces glued to the teeth behind the metal bracket. Dark blue, light blue, red, orange, yellow, pink, purple, white, grey. His words just now were avoid the yellow, orange or green coz they are rank! :rotfl::rotfl: As a teenage boy he liked the lighter blue. I think they prefer to make a thing of showing them off rather than try to hide what can obviously be seen, so don't bother with having grey or white. :D

I think there is a lot less bullying these days as they are so common, and can look quite trendy.

if I remember rightly we had the first initial brace fitted at the beginning of the summer holidays so that by the time he went back to school in sept it was old news...
It also meant that give or take a week or so all the major changes and milestones could usually be fitted into other holiday times such as christmas and easter etc...
