I too would be somewhat miffed and I tend to disagree with thesaint's post.

I guess what you disagree with is not based in law.

It's a girl thing..... don't dismiss it. Violation/lack of privacy and our scanties tossed around. I've heard builders even go round laundry baskets trying to find some.

There's nowt so dirty as a lot of men.... really.

Thankfully there's a good supply of dirty women as well ;)
    It's someone else's fault.

I've not read everyone elses comments...but as a LL who watched what happened during our first gas safety inspection I can only add the following...

this being said that its only a boiler and gas hob in our property so no need for further inspection you would say...however the person conducting the check asked what gas appliances we had and then still proceeded quite rightly to check all rooms on the off chance that I had missed one...

so based on this its likely that your bedroom would have been entered...to check for gas appliances as part of the check...

Ithink that possibly youve over thought this too much...and to be honest if your undies were still on the floor when you returned then no ones really taken that much notice of them.

    .
Its not just appliances that they are checking. They have to check the gas installation (ie supply pipes). So if you have a gas supply in a bedroom for a fire that was removed then they should check that the pipe is properly sealed.

To be honest, yes, you are being over-sensitive. Who cares about your dirty underwear?

    I'd be horrified too!

This is not "ok". He was there to do one thing - let the gas person in/ out.

You pay rent in order to live in the house as if it were your home. Your guests would not enter your bedroom uninvited, they would feel it extremely rude and intrusive to do so, and would have more respect for your privacy.

I wouldn't say anything on this occasion, though I'd be seething in private. But if he requests to come in again for any reason, ensure you make it clear that permission is granted for that one particular thing only.
