This happened to my sister, she was told that they can't give a refund because the competitor isn't big enough. they need to make this price guarantee clear to people at the point of sale. it is the business interest to hand the customer a leaflet explaining the terms rather than verbally just saying it.

If it is cheaper at another store then just buy it from them....

Oh wait, they don't have any in stock.

    Enjoy your new TV.

The OP was after a retrospective price match, having already purchased the TV from JL a few days earlier.

The point is the OP can't buy it from Richer Sounds for cheaper.

Every price match offer I have ever seen has had the condition that the competitor must have the item in stock. It's pretty much a common sense thing, surely?!

More evidence of John Lewis falsely representing their image online

That's really not what the evidence is showing to be honest.

All items and sales are subject to availability.

I could off e 50'' Plasma all singing and dancing for 50p in my shop, but when someone comes to buy it, say none in stock.

JL have done the right thing, it is not a scam, they offer this, over and above what they need to do. Look online at loads of sites, which offer stupid pricing. Most of them wont even carry the product and its for special order. Then try and get your money back off them when you have waited 8 weeks. I have had an issue in the past where a fire I sell was £100 cheaper than I could buy it for. I said couldn't match and they went off to buy. As far as I know, they are still waiting for a refund, they came back and bought the fire from me and still had the audacity to demand I match the price.

Your responsibility to read the T&C's not for them to read them out to you. That's why you went to school. To learn to read.

You clearly working for John Lewis

is this John Lewis SEO Team looking out for bad reviews and answering on John Lewis behalf

    You - 11 posts and 2 thanks
    Custardy - 27,000+ posts and 22,000+ thanks

I bet not even a fraction of 1% of his posts relate to John Lewis.

Still think he is a JL employee? Perhaps he is part time, because the rest of his time is taken up with time-travelling to the grassy knoll in Texas, faking moon landings etc. :rotfl:
