Have you ever been reading a magazine article or similar and both thought you'd love to visit that place. Me and OH are always showing each other amazing restaurant reviews and saying we'll go there some day but we never get round to it. If you do the same then this could be your perfect opportunity :)

It's funny, I'm from there and I never thought to recommend it! I agree, Keswick is a lovely place. :)

I guess with living here and personally favouring cities, when I think of a UK break I think of Manchester, Liverpool or London. I guess it's vice versa for those that live in cities?!

I agree with the York suggestion too, it's a lovely place.

it's the same wherever we live!

I'm in Edinburgh at the moment, formerly in London and usually it is just the daily hassle of getting to and from work, traffic, weather etc etc that you focus on.

Always good to take a step back and look around where you are once in a while!

Don't know about you but i hardly ever do anything 'touristy' unless people are coming to visit!

Still Keswick has the theatre, the rowing boats, some cracking views and a lot of wee restaurants and pubs in the centre. Further afield for the adventerous couple there is the Honnister Slate Mine and the Via Ferrata to cross.

Krackow is definately the overseas short hop with a difference. The square in the centre is very nice, it's a great city with a fantastic if unfurtunately dark recent history (you can go to the Schindler factory for example)
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

    Another vote for Krakow.
Also, Alicante, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Lisbon are all lovely places to go and not too far
    £2 Savers Club #156! :)
Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j

We do when the weather is nice....which isn't that often in the Lakes lol! Thing is, even though I was brought up here, I'm more a city girl at heart!

We do do touristy things quite often as my Dad is a photographer and likes to get some photos, and my Mam likes the little tea rooms and gift shops. My family are nearly all Ramblers and rock climbers. Tbh, I think I'm abit of a let down to them lol! They say that I hyperventilate if I'm more than a mile away from any shop!

We sometimes go for Sunday lunch in Keswick....and of course there is always that awesome sweet shop! :p I've never been to Honnister Slate Mine but I've always wanted to. I nearly did the Via Ferrata with my Uncle but I was working, but I wished I'd pushed to get the day off, as when I saw the photos it looked awesome and good fun!
