5th anniversary mini break?

It's our fifth anniversary in Sep this year - not wedding, relationship. We got together in our teens so five years feels like a milestone and we would like to do something a bit special.
Can anyone suggest anywhere that's nice and reasonable for a mini break? We don't have a car but have easy access to trains & airports, I'm not sure where is appropriate for a long weekend as opposed to a full blown holiday.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Ever been to Barcelona? Love it for a long weekend. Or of course Paris. We did a long weekend in Budapest in January, not knowing what to expect, and loved it - can't recommend it enough. Or if you are wanting to stay in the UK what about somewhere like Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or some other nice city. Sign up to secretescapes which always has loads of offers on country house hotel type places. What we have done a couple of times in the past is actually have a long weekend in London despite only living 20 mins away - it is fun to get the chance to do the touristy things we never do as 'locals' and to be able to go to shows or bars or restaurants without worrying about making the last train home.0

Rome - by far my favourite city.0

I forgot to add Prague is also lovely (though I am biased as we got engaged there!)0

I guess it all depends on how much you are wanting to spend?
Hubby and I love London. So much to do, tourist attractions, the shopping and for evenings, plenty of bars and theatres. We love going to the theatre, we usually go and see WWRY but that's closing this month I think?0 -
Have a look on groupon, always good deals from London to various places. I just went to Prague from Bristol, very good flights times (friday evening/sunday night) so minimal time off work. Weather was mid 20's. Nice scenery, good food and cheap. the weekend prob cost £750-800 total, flights/hotel were £520, but add getting to airport, parking (30), and food/drink/boat tour etc all came to about 700-800 between two people.
I used travel republic as I couldn't go through groupon as its London. If you are interested there was a 'botel' that I really wanted to stay at, great price but I was too late for the weekend I wanted, I can dig name out if needed.0 -
Belfast or Edinburgh (not been to other Scottish cities as a tourist so not mentioning!). Not a million miles away, and both worth a visit. Loads of food deals in places like Edinburgh. (We went recently - shout if you decide to go and need advice.)
Definitely take the Groupon advice - and also sign up for Living Social, Travelzoo and others.
If you do want to go further afield, another vote for Prague (been 9 times so again can advise if necessary!) or Barcelona.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Thanks you for all the suggestions! I see Prague has come up more than once & I know my boyfriend has wanted to visit. I love barca but we have both been not too long ago.
I don't live too far from London but want to avoid it as I spend a lot of time there, I'm really poorly travelled around the UK, I've done most of the south coast and east Anglia but not much further north, or Scotland or Wales!
Going to have a look on the aforementioned sites now!
