  • Thanks all who have contributed to this thread - it's extremely helpful. I wondered if, I too, could seek advice. I'm in the process of completing the C1 for my late Mothers estate.

    For paragraph 2 and 3.

I am one of three executors along with two siblings. One of my sisters has since divorced from when the will was created meaning her name has reverted back to her maiden name. I've listed her current name in 10. on the first page.

How do I refer to this name change and address change (for her and I also have changed address) in paragraph 2 and 3?

I don't quite understand why the notes for the C1 say to include "along with..." in section 2. but then goes on to provide a section 3. where other names can then be specified.

I'd appreciate if anyone has a similar example to follow?

    Here is a suggestion.

    That I am

along with (name of sister1) residing at (address) and (name of sister2) residing at (address) the execut(or)/(rix) nominate of the deceased conform to her will dated (date) which is exhibited, docquetted and signed by me as relative thereto and that myself, the said (name of sister1), and (name of sister2) are children of the deceased.

In said will I am designed as residing at (address) a previous address.

In said will (name of sister) is named (old name) a previous name, and as residing at (address) a previous address.

    forgot to include 'nominate'
  • Thank you, Lane1 and buddy9. That's extremely helpful.
  • Before I found this forum I thought I had almost completed the C1, but there’s so much more to it than I’d realised! Thank you all for the info I’ve gleaned so far. My question now is about how to list the inventory items according to country. My thoughts so far are: household goods and personal effects, Scotland; Premium Bonds, an Aviva life policy and an investment bond with a UK investment bank, England. I’m not sure about two other accounts - one is a bank current account operated from a Glasgow branch but with a registered office in London, and the other is a branch-based account (again Glasgow branch) with a building society registered in England. Should these two be listed under Scotland or England and Wales?

@Goldie1107  I asked the bank about this and they told me what country to use. The only one that had to come under England was the RBS investment ISA account. I think the address of the registered office is important but I could be wrong.

If nobody comes along on this thread with a better answer, you might try giving the bank(s) or company in question a ring.  And well done for getting this far on your own.
  • I completed my C1 in 2020 and used the Head Office location for each financial institution.  It was accepted, but I have seen variations, ie local branch addresses also being accepted.

Currie on Confirmation contains some guidance.

    • Premium Bonds may be treated as estate in Scotland, or as estate in England and Wales.

    • If a bank or building society account is to be treated as estate in Scotland, it must be specified as being at a Scottish branch.

    Here is a fictitious example:

  • Thank you all for your prompt and helpful responses. I do have more questions! One of my mother’s middle names is misspelt on the Will. How and where would I indicate that on the form, given that all other documents have the correct spelling? Also, my own name as executor has the first and middle names joined by a hyphen in the Will - also not correct. Is that important enough to be mentioned on the form?
