    Hi
I presume you only paid £3 for it, i'd contact the seller and explain there's no sound and see what they say.

Decide if you want a replacement copy or a refund. Personally i'd just use this as a learning experience, although it's up to you if you want to pursue; likely he's been reported by now although the listings may not be pulled as they're not advertised explicitly as copies, though the signs are all there.

To be honest it really does scream copy as soolin says, but not everyone always picks these things up. For £3 I certainly wouldn't have expected the real deal.

Anyhoo, let us know what you decide

I'd still report him to ebay for selling fakes whatever else you decide to do.

Looking at the auction it does rather scream copy, the fact it mentions the quality and a full menu on the disc.

However, it is strictly against ebay terms to sell pirates, and it breaks UK law as well so ask for your money back and report him to everyone as others have already suggested.

If you paid by paypal claim back through them for item not as described.

    SOo

Paypal dont accept claims for items not as described. Please dont give useless advice.

yes, as he says 100% quality and sound. but he doesn`t say that its genuine or a copy. so ask for a refund and if no luck then claim back with paypal and report him.
    try using the VERO thingy..
    hope this helps.

No it wont - only REGISTERED copyrights holders can use VERO.

I got sent a copy DVD when I thoguth it was real! Not only is it a copy but it has no sound! What can I do?

Ask the seller for a refund due to no sound, or maybe he can help fix it. He doesnt say its an original.

There may be sound, you just may need to update your codecs. I have downloaded several things off p2p in my time, and depending on what you play them on/in there is sound or no sound.

Example: I thought I'd re-watch Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy (BBC2 series), with a view to comparing it to the newly released movie, so I downloaded the whole series. In Windows Media Player, there is no sound ... yet in BS Player, the sound quality is excellent.

As in all things of this nature, YMMV (your mileage may vary).

    cheers

    Pete

If that advice was useless maybe you should contact paypal then and ask them to remove the following statement from their help menu about disputes:

"Protection Policies - PayPal Buyer Protection

What is significantly not as described?

An item is significantly not as described if the seller clearly misrepresented the details of the item in a way that affects its value or usability. Please note that this does not include cases where you are disappointed with the item and or it did not meet your expectations. If the buyer and seller cannot resolve the issue on their own, PayPal will ultimately determine whether the item is 'significantly not as described' at its discretion. "

I'm not suggesting that the buyer in this case will have any luck as paypal often seem reluctant to intervene at all, but it surely must be worth a try?

Also, try reading the thread on this board where we have a situation from the sellers point of view. Sold billiard balls as ivory and buyer says they are not, paypal have found in buyers favour and seller has been looking for advice on here about how to stop paypal taking their money back.

    Hi
I agree to contact the buyer and demand an immediate refund. If he does not comply ,here are your links for paypal diputes and report fraud. Yes Soolin is right you can get a refund from paypal if items not as described plus the seller will probably not be able to prove he posted it , unless you recieved it recorded. Paypal only accepting recorded/ tracked proof of postings .
PAYPAL CHARGEBACK PROCESS click the purple lettering " start an item dispute".
reprt selling fakes step 1 tick listing violation. step 2 banned items . step 3 violated copyrights.
Personally if he does even give you a refund i would still report him for seling copys to save other ebayers getting ripped off.

The thread you refer to was not regarding a Paypal complaint. It was an ebay complaint.

If you try and file a dispute with Paypal on the basis of an item not being as described it is automatically closed with the following statement:

"This claim did not meet PayPal’s filing requirements. For specific details on the outcome of this case, please visit the Resolution Centre and see the Complaint Details."

Quoted from a complaint of mine made in December. Unless something has changed since then?, that's what happens.

You used to have to file via Ebay for items not as described.
