I have decking in my garden, really as a stop gap measure. The garden is on a slight slope horizontally, and there was a couple of steps immediately outside the back door, and then up again five feet away to the slope. By installing the decking its completely level. Eventually this gap will be replaced by an extension. However its been there for about six years now, and looks great as I repainted it last year. Like anything, look after it and it'll last. The garden has a large patio, and that still goes green and needs pressure washing every so often.
