Stone found in chocolates - what rights?

Options
Hi there. I was wondering if the collective expertise here can help me with something troubling me.

My wife bit into a chocolate truffle from a top luxury brand recently and nearly broke her tooth on a small stone that was inside. She was pretty horrified and I immediately contacted this small UK manufacturer on the website. In that online form I offered to send back the remaining contents of the box and my Amazon receipt in case it could help them track the batch, in case others are affected. They didn't get back to me.

So I tweeted it to publicly get their attention. This worked and they got back to me within hours. They offered to look into it and so I sent them the box and the receipt and I've heard nothing much other than "we're looking into it" over the last two weeks.

What should I do and what should I be expecting from them? I sent the box and the piece of flint (having taken a photo of it) but I still feel deeply let down. Should I go more public or at least threaten them that I will?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

You tell us. What do you expect, and within what timescale? There's little point in taking disgruntled action if they don't actually realise that you're disgruntled. I'm interested to know what "going more public" means - what do you intend to do?

'nearly broke her tooth' don't be daft. She didn't so it is irrelevant.

'Deeply let down' give over man, bit over the top, don't you think.

What on earth are you expecting, oh no, not compensation, surely.

Going more public with it will only result in you making even more of a laughing stock of your self. I think I would just be moving on....

Have you asked for a replacement or refund? If not do so, and if this is not responded too then escalate up the chain until you get a response.

It sounds like you are hankering for compensation, and will go 'public' ie to press in order to get it. As someone else said, she didn't break her tooth and as for 'deeply let down'....no one died!

a refund in this circumstance is sufficient, and you providing the evidence enabling them to investigate, which you have already done. A small gift voucher or comp box of chocolates would be generous.

Definitely contact the Daily Mail who will soon be in touch to take your side of the story along with pictures of your aggrieved wife and the offending chocolates.

Shouldn't have happened but surely it was similar to a nut to break into?

Plenty of chocolates that have nuts in them. Your wife could have nearly broken her tooth on one of those too?
