This was very useful, i was just about to look further into for my wife. thank you for bringing to everyone's attention Chai.
Thanks for the warning, but I was too late. Wish I had checked on here first!! It is very useful to know. Also the bank is a bit powerless to stop the payments from being taken initially.0 -
I fell hook line and sinker into this scam - saw ad on national newspaper website for free trial of Spark Whitening and Ivory Pro saying time limited offer for free trial @ £1 each for postage ( was actually charged £2 odd for each ).
When boxes arrived they contained trial sample plus 30 day complete kit which I thought strange - was only expecting trial.
I checked my bank statement and the b@$£/%*s had taken over £120 out ! And this was a few days before Christmas.
Have contacted my bank so they can't nick any more money but doubt whether I will get the £120 odd quid back - put it down to stupidity on my part.
So all beware this scam is still happening as I see from posts it has been going on for quite some time.0 -
No - did this on spur of moment as suprise for my partner + ad said offer would close in a couple of hours0

Just to warn you - this scam is doing the rounds again as I have just been stung by "Advanced White Smile". I paid £4.95 for the trial pack and 14 days later £79.95 was taken out of my account.
There is no website or business address on the email order confirmation - just a phone number which I rang and they told me they've now cancelled my "monthly subscription" but cannot refund my money. The only address mentioned in the T's & C's (which was just a link in the email confirmation) is in Holland.
What can we do about this as it seems there are hundreds of similar scams doing the rounds for various health products?
Many thanks,
Heidi0 -
Thanks very much for the warnings folks. However, I would never use anything to try and whiten my teeth, that involved giving out my bank account details! Regular cleaning with normal toothpaste will suffice!
Not having a go BTW, just saying.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!0 -

Love the wording "Conveniently".I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

No website?
How did you make your purchase?
And what did the link in the email you mention link to?0 -
At the bottom of the page where you put your details for free trial is a part that says read terms and conditions. In those terms and conditions it states you are automatically added to the so called club and it details the amount to be taken from your account and how often. This is exactly the same thing that happens on a similar site for free trial slimming raspberry keytones. They rely on people NOT reading what is in the small print and sadly many many people fall prey to this horrendous trickery. Somehow these sites have to be stopped how? i don,t know. All i know is it is so wrong on many levels what they do0
