Number of interviews before you were offered a job?

At the moment I think I am on 20+ interviews I think, Only 1 had the manners to let me know I didn't get the job.
Perhaps it was fluke but pre say 2006 any time I had an interview I got the job so at the moment this is a real eye opener.
It shocks me to hear so many employers don't have the courtesy to let unsuccessful interviewees know. I have been really messed around by one organisation (long story), but even they let me know I didn't get the job.
Most of them make a decision the same day so at least it hasn't prolonged the agony.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

It just never occurred to me to wander around trying to find someone to give me work when there were so many interesting things to do that actually paid very well.
That sounds nice.
Examples/suggestions?
I don't have the confident 'big brother applicant' personality required in today job interview market, so I can't see me ever getting a decent job the 'normal' way.0 -
I had my fifth interview last week and got a call the same day to say I hadn't got the job. The interview went better than any of my previous ones. They did say they were impressed with me and I don't think they were just saying that.
I saw an employment advisor a couple of days before the interview and I think acting on his advice made it go a lot better and feel like less of an ordeal. I'm seeing him again tomorrow and am hoping that with his ongoing help I can actually land a job.
As a result of the feedback from the interview I have enquired about a couple of other voluntary jobs (already volunteering for 3 organisations). I think the new roles will help expand my skill set and give me a better chance going forward.

I was made redundant in April 2013, actually lost count of number of interviews over that time.... However this year I've counted...
May so far 2
April 7
March 4
Feb 2
Jan 1 Got offered to role took the role, was let got two weeks later because I asked too many questions!
Last year I had a week with an interview each day and two interviews the following week so 7 in 7 working days
Also got through to a 3rd interview to be told the role has been put on hold due to budgets and through to a 2nd interview to be told the job was offered internally.....
I really should have a proper count up.... I personally have never know a job market like it, I'm just looking for ideally a PA Office Manager role again or any Admin role....Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!0 -

I'm trying to get admin work as well, I've had so many interviews and ultimate rejections that it feels like I'm up against a brick wall. I'm beginning to suspect that I'm also up against some industial prejudices.:www: Progress Report :www:

I've been rejected for lots of admin type roles, too.
I think they really want people with degrees and stuff. Not like it used to be. I had much better jobs when I was about 19 than anything i've had for the last decade.
Not sure what sort of jobs to try next. I want it to be office based I think. I'm looking into data entry, but I don't think i'm fast enough at typing?
Failing that, I guess i'll sign back on when I run out of savings!0 -

I'm beginning to question how I got the roles I've had in the past, esp when I go for an interview which is just Admin and I get told they didn't hire me as I don't have enough experience! (my last role was Pa Office Manager)

The thing that most frustrates me at the moment is you see a job advertised, it seems to suit you down to a T, you've got the experience, you've got the qualifications, you are confident that you should at least get an interview and if you're honest you think you've chance of getting the job. You don't even make it to the interview, you hear nothing back.0

3 interviews, one job offer that I took. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
