You just made me remember to look up about Magpies FF. Remember I said we didn't have them here at all? This is what I found
"Magpies can be found across most of the UK, except for the Scottish Highlands. In fact they are typically scarcer in Scotland, found in localised populations rather than the wide distribution they have across the rest of the UK"
Found another article from someone wondering about them not being in SW Scotland.
Seems strange. I always stop and look at them when we are away somewhere.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

We have magpies here (and Newcastle supporters are known as 'magpies' because they wear black and white too) I agree with FF - they are noisy and squawk a lot! We see more seagulls right here at the coast though and they are even noisier and HUGE!!! I have to keep Honey on a lead because many of them are 2/3/4 times her size and swoop down as if they want to grab her and fly off with her!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

they also 'chatter' a lot to each other & seem tell each other
off a lot
when I've got molly here (the parakeet) she loves watching them in the garden & bobs her head up & down when they start squawking & chattering :rotfl:
gosh yes, I remember the last time we were at the seaside & some of the gulls were massive
they can be quite vicious I think:eek:
i'd keep honey on a lead as well :Aplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
We have loads of huge gulls too Bella as we are by the sea here. They sit on our roofs and screech, although they don't seem to have been as bad this year maybe it is the better weather helping them find food. We also have plenty of Crows and Jackdaws.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Remember years back at my old house neighbour and I were chatting in the garden and her little girl who was two at the time was sitting on the grass eating a sandwich and this huge gull swooped down and took it from her it was pretty frightening. god knows what else it could have done to her :eek:0

My favourite birds are robins and blue tits as they are so pretty! When we go over to my parents holiday home on the Isle of Arran, we often see birds of prey, owls and even a kingfisher, who must live close to the house by the river! The kingfisher looks stunning with its colours!
Oh and there are two swans who live by the river too and every year we get to see their little signets! The only sad thing is they do seem to lose one or two of them as the weeks pass, for example, this year they started with six signets and now they seem to only have three! We have two webcams attached to the holiday home - one that looks over the river by the side of the house and the other looks over the garden so we can all login online or on our phones to view the river and garden anytime we like! Not only can we watch out for burglars but we can watch the swans and other wildlife wandering around - we have seen foxes, badgers, otters, even seals!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
