cash machine didn't pay out

No, I am not in charge of any ATMs. Nor did I claim to be in the know either.
However, you post as if you are in the know and obviously do not have a clue about banks.
Microsoft have not removed support and have not stopped providing updates for Windows XP. The only thing that has happened is that you have to pay for it now ($200 a machine).
The bank's have CSA's with microsoft and pay for the extended support. The same with Windows 2003 servers. It does take time to migrate, however the financial incentive usually provides the kick to get them done (the $200 is likely to double in the second year - it usually does).
Also, how do you think the ATMs will get the viruses?, none of the ones I am aware of are internet facing and don't go through the normal penetration testing.
Would it worry you to know that some banks still have important servers that are running on NT4 and Windows 2000?, they haven't been in support for years but still run quite happily.
Bahaha, keyser666 doesn't look quite as smart now!
I work in IT, and the above is correct, perhaps people should actually at least bother to have basic knowledge before calling others out in public.
Would you like some aloe vera for that burn, keyser?0 -
I wouldnt dream of doing 3 transactions even if I needed £500 out, the chances of anything going wrong are miniscule
See you on here in a few weeks/months when you're on here whingeing about 'losing' five hundred quid from a cashpoint (if you can actually even take that much out.)
I wouldn't withdraw that much in one transaction from the cashpoint in a million years. Bit stupid imo. Not only is there a risk of not getting all the money, (or the whole lot not coming out, like in the case of the OP,) but also, there is a risk of being robbed.
Who the hell would take such a high amount out of a cashpoint? Especially in one withdrawal. Why not just go into the bank? And if it's shut, wait til it opens! Nothing is that urgent, that it couldn't wait til the bank opens!0 -

Can you not be robbed when leaving the bank?0 -

WOW what a response
Not sure that it warrented calling me stupid
I am not going to reply to all those points as most are irrelevant
I rarely if ever withdraw £500 in one go in the UK, its usually £100 and never had an issue and been using cashpoints for 38 years, and as said why would you withdraw in 3 goes. If there ever was an issue the bank would sort it, maybe not there and then but i would have no worries about getting it back.
Where I do withdraw £500 or about $800 a time is in the USA to maximise the benefit of the ATM charges (of course using a Halifax clarity)0 -
Back to the OP
has it been sorted?0 -

Shhh.... don't tell the banks this.
When they realise, they can then shutdown all the atms (saving at least $200 a time, apparently) without any inconvenience to anybody.0
