How can people be so nasty?

Just a bit of a vent really

Walking to work this morning and tripped over a loose slab at the road crossing, went sprawling onto the road, banged myself up pretty badly (knee is ballooning) and winded myself :( Whilst I was trying to pull myself onto the pavement a car drove up swerved round me with the moron inside shouting and swearing at me as he tore off. Got onto the pavement and a nice wee old man did stop to check on me. Ended the walk to work at a slow hobble in tears.........

Why would someone behave so badly? REALLY not the way people usually are here thank goodness!

    Oooh, you poor thing !

Thankfully, idiots are in the minority. Hope there's no lasting damage.

Try not to dwell on it, unfortunately, our society is full such imbeciles, but although the nosiest, their behaviour is not that of most people. They are not worth your anger or pity.

Hope you are ok though, it must have been frightening to see that car coming towards you.

That's awful! I am still shocked by how little help people offer. I studied this in depth during a Psychology degree...wowza. I make a point of always trying to help people - I couldn't stand by and watch anything like that.

I remember falling flat on my face RIGHT in the city centre (fab..) and people genuinely stopped and stared.

I do hope that you're okay and you haven't twisted anything!
Does the walker choose the path or the path the walker?

I remember when my Mother collapsed in the middle of a very busy road. Her shopping rolled off down the road whilst she lay there motionless. It took a lollipop lady to run from the far end of the road to stop the traffic from negotiating around her.

I was horrified when I heard about it from the lollipop lady herself, particularly that these drivers were honking their horns at her as they wheel spun around her motionless body in frustration.

That's awful! How can some people behave in such a selfish manner? That's despicable!

Sorry to hear that zaxdog, hope you don't ache too much from your fall - glad there was some one nice who helped you.

I think that something is in the air today as someone verbally abused my sister this morning for no reason at all

I hope you feel better soon. Please report this to your local Council for fixing. My Mum (79) recently slipped on a loose kerb stone but thankfully didn't sustain lasting damage. A frail person could be in real trouble.

Oh no hope you feel better soon.

In answer to your question because some people are idiots.

Playing devils advocate maybe he didn't see you til the last minute (no idea why he wouldn't be looking for people at a crossing), had to swerve and got throughly scared. Hence the shouting out of fear.
Maybe he decided you were some drunk falling around in the road.

But it's probably my first answer because he was an idiot.
    Kate short for Bob.

Sorry to hear that you had an accident this morning and someone showed such nastiness and disregard for your wellbeing. Very glad to hear that another person helped you and hopefully restored your faith in human nature.

Your thread reminded me of this clip a friend shared with me recently, about the arrogance of people when they are behind the wheel. Hope it brings a smile to your face and makes you feel a bit better.

Edit: I am not trying to infer you are old.‎
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies.

Think he was probably a tourist to be honest. Start of the season here and a lot of them drive like loons

Knee is sore and I've skinned my hands and elbow but I'll live :D More the shock I think tbh.
