Explain the door problem and ask if they have any rising butt hinges. You may still need to trim a bit but it's a lot less.
I've had a swatch online and cannot see a decent video of how they work. I think from looking at them that the hinge swivels up as the door opens, rising away from the carpet? Do you trim from the bottom or the top of the door £15.60 is at the top end of what I'd want to pay
I hear you KC, once underlay and fittings have been added, the total must be something like £19/metre square. In all honesty, it's more than I'd like to pay, but we're somewhat hamstrung in that it will look odd if we laminate half the flat in one colour and half in something slightly different.
The floorboards in the living room aren't in great shape - quite a few loose ones, larger gaps than are ideal and it the slope is accentuated by the natural finish in an odd way. It's far less easy to spot when there's a regular/machined finish. I believe that it will add at least as much value in the eyes of a prospective purchaser as the £600 cost of fitting. Uniformity is king for most people?
All of our DIY at the moment is with resale in mind. We're looking for a good finish, but I'm trying to keep costs down where possible. We've already 'saved' £90 off the laminate through judicious application of ROBO shopping. We're aiming to move by autumn 2016, so less than 2 years to go!Now you could limbo in under the door.
Eek! Is son normally a competent DIYer? Luckily Mrs E's Dad has a woodworking skill level between enthusiastic hobbyist/journeyman carpenter :T
Brunch was lovely, doing a little bit of productive work by tidying out some cupboards in advance of the mess of upcoming DIY projects.0 -

I thought this would be the one I'd stick in, but I don't think it is
Well, you owe it to yourself to be true to yourself
Clearing up done for now, very little getting chucked out, but we do have a bag of cables, old electricals and energy saving lightbulbs for the dump. On a more useful clearing out note, bagged £120 of change :money:
Spent some money buying an adaptor for our old iPod dock (no need to chuck now) and some screen wipes for our manky laptop monitor
Off out with a bag of fabric recycling and then HM salmon fishfingers, potato wedges and veg for tea.0 -

Very true, ed, very true. I'm not quite sure about this place yet, I keep changing my mind; the decision may boil down to finances, and I certainly *act* as though I'll be leaving. So it goes :cool:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I am in shock!
When it comes to wine, I like a drop of something decent, and I have a bit of a sweet tooth. Many moons ago when Mrs E and I were boyfriend and girlfriend, I used to save £30 a month with Virgin Wines and I decided to treat myself to something special. I bought myself a bottle of Chateau Y'qem Sauternes 2001. It wasn't cheap then, the £65 cost dwarfed almost every other bottle of wine in the crate. Imagine my surprise to discover that it's now sold for £450/bottle :T
Apparently that nice Mr Parker gave it 100.0 -

I suppose it's too much to hope that you didn't drink the wine, and it's still lurking in your wine cellar/rack/cupboard under the stairs?Early retired - 18th December 2014

Just realised that I missed out that part of the story!
Bottle of wine is sitting unopened in our study/pantry, hence the shock0
