Thanks PB and yes, it is a recurring theme. But don't worry, we're not splitting up! Sadly a very close family member is in the process of getting divorced, so it's all too familiar a topic at this point in time.
We know that we're both under a lot of pressure at the moment, but we vacillate between wanting to be hands off (i.e. find contractors) and hands on (DIY). Contractors is winning out at the minute.
Haven't quite managed to find time for a date yet, but we do have a week's holiday booked for the end of the month
Thanks for your concern.Hi thought I'd delurk and say have just finished reading your diary. What an amazing and busy year you have had. I feel exhausted reading it. Good luck with the diy
Thanks misszog!0 -

Oh, excellent!
I remember you saying that you liked Whitstable and Canterbury.
So you'll be able to get away from all the house stuff and have some time out.:)Early retired - 18th December 2014

I didn't think you were for a second, but y'know, I worry about you!*Rubs knuckles on Ed's head*

2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
If I could go back in time I would spend every minute with my babies. As you already know, they don't last. DIY can wait.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Another weekend, another car seat for DD
MIL wanted a seat as she will be looking after her for 2 days from the end of May. This seemed perfectly reasonable, Mrs E signed us up to pay 1/2 and MIL got searching with real gusto after initial skepticism about the need for a rear facing seat. With typical tact and diplomacy, I told her that she could buy a rear facing seat or we'd buy one for her
Before anyone thinks I'm being overly cheeky, I would point out that MIL is a total stirrer and inveterate fan of argument on [STRIKE]any[/STRIKE] every topic.
She did herself proud and found 3 possibles. Unfortunately 1 of them wasn't actually rear facing and while the other 2 were ok, they were only suitable up to 13kg. At the rate DD is growing, that would probably be less than 6 months of rear facing, so we had to go back to the drawing board.
We eventually agreed on a non-ISOFIX 123 seat that can be used rear facing up to 18kg, £97 each.
Mrs E gets her first 'return to work' wage in a week, it cannot come soon enough. Once this month's credit card bills clear we will have literally a few hundred quid left in our main current account.
Right, off to prepare for rare lunch date with Mrs E. It's a glorious sunny day, we're off to the leafy green part of the city and all of our chores are done. :j0
