So, kinda raging, I have discovered another fault in our new bathroom.
The board directly below the sink appears to be cracked directly across the middle. It is bad enough that I can freely wiggle the board by pressing my finger onto it with minimal force. Due to the nature of the crack, I am willing to bet money that it has either been broken on receipt, or broken during installation. It's too big a fault to miss, so being uncharitable I think the fitters have cracked it and thought 'they'll not notice'.
So what to do? I doubt the manufacturer could replace a single board, the entire sink/toilet unit would need to be removed to replace it and I don't *think* that it's load bearing. It can't be seen with the doors closed beneath the unit. On the other hand, we paid nearly £1,800 to the fitters - surely they had a duty of care to either spot the fault before installation (the first thing you do with flat pack is check the parts) or to install it properly?
Torn and annoyed, would appreciate thoughts on how best to procede. One of those things that you just have to grin and bear?0 -
We had umpteen problems when we had our en suite bathroom renovated and Mr T wouldn't let the suppliers nor fitters off the hook for anything. Believe me it was a battle. We ended up with a great bathroom though but his advice, fight to get them to fix it. It would have been clear that was broken when they were fitting it.

Thanks Tilly, have called the supplier/company owner, will pester him until we get a response. It's disappointing, the finish is so lovely on the exterior, dreading discovering any other hidden 'gems'0

I agree with Tilly - plus, if any other problems turn up, you have a track record of not getting things fixed, and they may try to wriggle out of things
A whole panel that you can wiggle with your finger, and that *probably* isn't load bearing ... thats not okay. And drafts, damp, who knows how that could affect you in a few years?

It's not a panel like an end panel, it's more of a beam/strut that divides the sides of the unit. That said, suppliers don't make money from over-designing furniture, it probably serves a purpose.0

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0
