I'm not sure how tall she is KC, I'd have trouble getting her to sit still for long enough to measure her! She is now in the 90th percentile for growth, so getting long and doing so quickly
@ Choccielover - yes, rear facing and should hopefully fit her until she's 4. Mrs E had one of those very frustrating conversations with her Mum where MIL refused to accept that rear facing was a thing (and would in fact be the law in the very near future). It was a bit surreal - we were buying the car seat for her car, but she was fixated on a forward facing cheapo from B&M bargains! :eek:
Now don't get me wrong, we'll buy toys from pound stores, clothing from the supermarket and accept hand-me-downs. We also realise that we are manipulated and targeted with a lot of marketing as new parents. That said, we don't trust DD's car safety to a 'bargain' seat.
I have a relative who works with children with joint problems etc., some of whom have been in car accidents. I am told that the value of a good RF car seat is instantly apparent when it comes to rehabilitation.0 -
My DS is 3y 9mo, bang on 15kg, and last measured just before Christmas and he was 105cm tall. Still rear facing in his Britax Two Way Elite - it RFs to 25kg (or can be used FF too) my plan is to keep him RF until at least 5 years old AND at least 18kg in weight. By that time hopefully there's be baby #2 ready to move in to that seat and DS can go in a high back booster.
MIL looooooves to tell me how ridiculous I am, I smile and nod and say "yes, I am incredibly stupid for keeping your youngest grandson as safe as he can be in the car". :rotfl:0 -
My MIL is like that with everything.
- She refuses to believe that we like the light quality of LED bulbs (she doesn't)
- She doesn't believe that the range of frequencies that you can hear changes as you get older. She is convinced that 4 people in their 30s made up the fact that they could hear the peep of the cat scaring 'mosquito' in their back garden (she's 60)
- She can't understand why anyone likes champagne more than prosecco (to the point of rudeness. I have noticed, however, that she'll still drink it when it's free
)
I can only see it getting worse :rotfl:0 -
:o:o Oh my god. The lyrics to Hope I Die Before I Get Old spring to mind. Old in the head, that is, since, y'know, I'm up there with your MiL age-wise

You're only as old as you feel (I think that's the clean version of that particular phrase?)
Some people are old before their time unfortunately, I hope that she gets a second wind now that she has retired. Mrs E has said that she seems more positive of late, plus time looking after DD will be a good thing for her (or kill her, definitely one of the two) :rotfl:0 -
Sniff - someone will be rehoming the last few fish on Friday - I will no longer have an aquarium for the first time in nearly 4 years. Hopefully I'll be able to make a few £ selling it off, but they depreciate like sports cars :eek:0

Yeah, I'll miss them in a strange way. Still, they're off to a 7' tank, sure they will be ecstatic once they settle in!0

Bye fishA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
