Evening Mr E, do you freeze the rice and beans then just grab one in the morning?
Sounds like a possible plan for Mr T when he is out and about.

Hi Tilly
I just portion them up into tupperware and keep them in the fridge. Because I work a 4 day week, it just about stays fresh over that time (think how long a pre-prepared supermarket salad could be in the tub).
This week I'm having brown basmati rice, black eyed beans, celery, cucumber, tomato, red pepper and olives with chilli and herbs. About 450 calories per pound with 30g+ protein and plenty of fibre.
£2.11 OPed, new car seat bought (the first one had an article about how dangerous it was in the 5un!) Worrying that you can spend £2xx and something still has design flaws.

Great updates, Ed, glad to see things are so good. Even though I'm a vegetarian, I can imagine how well duck and chestnut go together :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0

The car seat was returned without issue, replaced it with an achingly expensive Cyb3x one (more than the previous seat + 2 bases for a single seat) It has come to my attention that there are at least a couple of negative reviews for every car seat if you look hard enough. I like the new one as it has a 5 point harness, is built like a tank and is moulded to prevent DD from carrying out her cute (but dangerous IMO) habit of turning her head to look at me when I am driving.
Other than that, I'm finding it a little difficult to be as positive as I should be.
Aquarium, filter and lights were all sold on eB@y and I took a bath - £250 or so for equipment that cost c. £1,300 4 years ago. Still, it's done now and that's some money back in my pocket and a few £/m off the electricity bill. I am enjoying the hour or so that I'm *not* spending on cleaning the damn thing every weekThe aquarium hasn't been collected yet, expecting the end of next week. The buyer is driving from Wales, which shows you the size of the bargain on offer :rotfl:
DD is having a tough time of it with teething - not eating, 02:30 and 05:30 starts and generally ill at ease. We're trying to remain calm - she can't help it - but you can barely think straight after a couple hours of gurning.
Plumber continues to drag his heels re. fixing vanity unit, although he claims that there has been any progress re. ordering the part. Because I'm feeling low I'm cynically inclined to think that he's lying, but that's perhaps a bit uncharitable? No luck getting a joiner that we can afford - perhaps oak is a wood too far?
We went for a lovely walk in the park with my siblings, their children and grandparents yesterday, 16 of us all told :j Got to meet my youngest niece for the first time, who is adorable even if she looks like neither of her parents.
Cheltenham was a very busy time for gambling and I think that I managed to make £300 or so with minimal effort. I have decided to take time off work for it next year and open up a flurry of bookies accounts for Mrs E beforehand to maximise profits.
Financially this month has been a bit of a breather. We need to pay the £3,000+ credit card bill for the bathroom suite tomorrow and my other focus has been paying down debt. I think I've paid £300 or so off our 0% cards over the course of the month. Stoozing is great, but I'm not sure that I have the mental discipline for doing it full-time. I've also kept up with secured P2P lending and our £8,000 pot now produces £65+/m after tax. Solar panels are also on a tear - 10+ kWh on days when it isn't too overcast.
One more week to go at work and then I'm out of the office for 10 days over Easter :T Walking home from work at the moment, which is 4.5 miles or so and very good for endorphins. Weight continues to yoyo a bit, but that's largely due to my willpower around snacks and booze
Brined lemon and thyme roast chicken tonight, lots of furniture breaking down and tidying today, best go get started.
Hope everyone is doing well :beer:0 -
Ed, you're doing ever so well - you possibly expect to be Superman, you know? I know you lost a lot of money from the aquarium sale, but you recovered 20% after four years, that's not bad at all, honestly.
Sorry DD is having a hard time with teething, that must be distracting/upsetting/ disorientingis she chewing your finger? Or those gel things from Boots? Or something else?
4.5 miles of endorphins every day is great :j
Roll on a 10 day holiday :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I know my limitations KC, they just rankle
DD is biting *everything* (mutters curses under his breath as she breaks the skin) :rotfl:
Cleared out a bunch of aquarium odds and sods, listed a tent for sale on eBay, broke down a wardrobe in the third bedroom and had a wee bit of a clear up. Spring is definitely sprung, 12+ kWh already today :j
Off to get some endorphins, at a loose end!0
