I'm just surprised that she *needed* a spreadsheet :p:D :rotfl:
    • Mrs E paid, so our December has started, money shuffle completed
    • Switched electricity and gas, should save £315/y vs. current tariff :j
    • Signed up for smart meter rollout
    • Returned order form for Solar PV, should be getting installed at the start of December, will be stoozing the installation for 2 years, which should bring down the breakeven point by a fair whack
    • Updated spreadsheets, November was not a pretty month, spent £1k+ more than we earned
    • Picked up a DVD box set for Mrs E in one of the Am@azon BF deals (Kiltlander, looks like a bit of a chick flick ;))
    • Ordered a bulk batch of household products including white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, Napis@n, shower gel and Fair Trade cola. Managed to pick up 5% off each of the items for using subscribe and save, a further 10-15% off the shower gel and a further 15% off everything for subscribing to 5 items at once. Stoozed, of course ;)
    • Found a light fitting for the living room, it's a nice little chrome fitting with three patterned glass spheres. Not bad for a mass produced Chinese dealy, gets great feedback and less than £30. Now holding out for JL knocking something off the price of the redonkulous fitting I fancy for the stairwell... :rotfl:
    • Submitted a missing cashback claim for our new winter coats
  • Nice savings on the electric/gas! :) I think our recent switch has us saving ~£270, but that's not taking into account the free solar energy.

I've not allowed for 'free' solar either, suspect that we'll be paying off the sunk costs of the installation for 6.5 years or so, so didn't want to get dragged down into mire of investment returns, depreciations and all that.

We will modernise our white goods as they die, A++ tumble dryer was a good start, oven will be replaced with A rated soon (there is no A+ machine that fits in our kitchen), all bulbs to be replaced with LEDs.

If we can get to 'energy neutral' (i.e. electric and gas bill minus FITs is roughly £0, that's another expense struck off the list). That should bring us £20k or so closer to FI :)

Not much we can do about gas usage. New boiler, thick carpets and curtains, thermal plaster/paper to the exterior walls are about the size of it.

Perfect detail and really helpful, thanks!

I've got 2 regular savers due to mature that have been earning 4% and I'm toying with the idea of trying P2P for some of this money instead of just throwing it all into the S&S ISA. Will come back to you for the referrals if I decide to go for it.

Ed, I've PM'd you to get this sorted :)

To be fair I probably set it up at work :rotfl:.

    Thanks ajdj - referred :)

For anyone who is interested (eek - probably breaking forum rules here), I have one referral remaining for L3nding Crowd. You get £150 for investing £1k by the 30th of November and a share of my bonus to boot (£175 total). Website gets good feedback, but they are a newer outfit. Oddly enough, they're based on the first street where I had a real job!

Wouldn't have mentioned it but for the short period available....

Managed not to spend any more money after my solar PV deposit this morning, nearly my weekend :T

Urgh.... little missie was not for snoozing last night :(
    • Ordered a replacement light fitting for the living room (bargain at £29.99)
    • Put through another P2P referral (and then referred Mrs E, who sat smiling politely)
    • Boiler being fitted today, poor Mrs E
    • Council Tax direct debit letter received.... but no bill yet. Would be nice to know what we're paying before we pay it ;)

7 hours 'til the weekend, hiding at my desk until then :D

Took a loooong.... look at VCTs before reaching the conclusion that I am not rich enough to invest in VCTs. Fascinating, but very illiquid and we would need to have considerably higher NW before we could afford to tie up £6k+ for 5 years.

Probably one for those paying higher rate tax.

You will, Ed, if anyone gets there, it'll be you.

Speaking of illiquid, I've just remembered a little set of shares I'd completely forgotten in my "list of assets" - 300 wind farm shares, that started to pay dividends, but have stopped. Must investigate what happened....
