  • Also, on the ceiling front, I've become converted to the 2-shades-lighter-than-the-walls camp - have done that in our bedroom and our bathroom (the two most recent rooms we painted) and it looks great. You don't really notice the ceiling much compared to the stark white. (We did 50/50 white matt mixed with our ocean blue for the ceiling which worked well until DH tried to touch it up with 100% ocean blue :rotfl:)

We have ceilings two shades lighter than the walls thingummy.

I think we have always done that subconsciously, didn't realise that it was a 'thing'.

I've only ever had white ceilings, but I like the idea of toning ceilings.

We'll probably be decorating a couple of rooms next year, so might try it in one room

I thought it would look weird and/or not really make a difference, but now I really notice the rooms that still have white ceilings. (Haven't done anything about it as painting ceilings is a PITA! Probably will at some point though.)

2 shades lighter is interesting … I did the last room I painted with same colour on the ceiling and it definitely helped feel bigger (and easier round the joins :)!) but I live in a dark flat so light colours anyway ...

Haha - we're replacing a green bathroom as well! Not sure Mrs E could manage two hours in the bath either, she gets a heat rash if the shower is too warm :D

Another £140? lent out on P2P sites over the last couple of days. I have now passed two mini milestones (over £5k lent + I have passed my target yield, currently at 7.23%). The yield is rising as the effect of buying some loan parts at a premium fades. On the negative side, I believe that my first loan is currently late to pay (a £12 exposure).

Hey ho, with junk loans comes great flakiness ;)

Planning on putting £5-10k of our emergency fund into less risky P2P ventures as the seed money for an eventual extension of our new place.

This time next year my plan is for ours to be gone. With all this bathroom renovation talk on here, it's your fault I've been looking for items to replace our bathroom suite today and found this http://www.englishsalvage.co.uk/reclaimed-canopy-bath-and-shower-unit_item_15736 :D

When do you think you'll replace yours?

Hopefully getting recommendations for plumber + tiler from parents, so will speak to them next week. As the tradesmen have a good reputation, they're probably busy, so would assume early next year?

Thanks BW, just finished packing. Computer games to wind down for a bit, legs aching!

Early next year, do you ever stop?

If I buy it, that's what I'll call it. After all, someone who's just bought a '70's build can't possibly be questioning my taste. :D

Good luck for tomorrow. :) Enjoy life without the internet for a while.
