  • Ed - hun, you're a marvel! So generous with your time and explanations. I echo Alchemilla - a thousand thankyous :D

I'm so glad that you picked up that I wasn't seeking advice, as you know that I wouldn't want to get anyone into trouble. I have bookmarked the article, and will print it off to read and keep. Ta :D

Totally get you on the added percentages that *slick marketing* adds to the price of things, and the trouble is with percentages is that they can quickly add up! Even on some teenyweeny portfolios ;) But you're right - I had heard of that company and *wondered* how to sort out the expensive from the value for money....... ;)

And I also have to thank you for expanding my vocabulary - *stooge* I knew - *shill* I did not :D

Continue to have a great Sunday - and thank you again for your time, patience and explanations. It is very much appreciated by me.

So a person cant use Vanguard if investing less than 100k ... but you invest in Vanguard does that mean you have invested over 100k (in which case wahey!)...sorry my poor stupid rain.

Al, I think the £100k minimum is if you invest in Vanguard direct.

KC completely right, £100k is limit for direct investment with the company. Anyone can invest from £50/m through an ISA.

Al - Karmacat is right - the key word is direct. Vanguard is (I think) a US company - that's why on MMM they talk about investing in Vanguard and they mean dealing direct. Us *mear mortals* in the UK - who are starting out on this investing malarkey, can only access Vanguard by going through a broker (or platform as I mentioned before). ANYONE can do that - your £100 is as eligible as mine :D But if you're a big cheese and have £100k knocking about that you do not know what to do with, well, then Vanguard's front door is open to you :D

So maybe Ed is super rich ;) or maybe he has gone through a broker and adds modestly to his 'stache each month ;)

    HTH

Edit: oops - crossposted with Ed - but glad I was giving the right explanation :)

I work for an investment bank and very rarely will money be rejected if you want to invest an amount below the min amount. Worth a try!
