I managed to get myself so pished that I could hardly stand once we arrived at the destination.
That comment made my evening :rotfl:Hello Ed. Hope you are all recovered?
Doing very well thanks Al, health recovered and I find the black dog !!!!!!s off at the weekend to let me sleepEd have you checked out the option of buying economy and upgrading to business with the airmiles?
I looked at that today Watty, thanks. It appeared to be a case of six or half a dozen. Costs were broadly similar (think your plan saved c. £50), but it added a layer of complexity that would reduce the likelihood of gettings flights at our chosen time. It was a worthwhile exercise tho, so thank for you for suggesting it :T
I had a lovely grown up afternoon today. Read the FT Weekend on the train with some dark chocolate and a huge black coffee while taking the train to scenic Dalmuir. This was followed by a distillery tour where I was a bit spendy with a £70 bottle of whisky (or as I like to think of it, MB profit for the day + £25)
Mrs E has also been baking, stout and chocolate cake :beer:0 -
I can look back at it and laugh now but at the time it was embarrassing. I vividly remember walking (if I can really call it that
) through arrivals about ten paces behind my wife and son, desperately looking for a bathroom whilst telling myself to "look sober" despite the fact I was evidently not. About three elderly passengers asked if I was "OK". The rest of that day was spent in bed, hungover whilst Mrs K was enjoying the first day of sunshine. Since then, I can quite honestly say I don't drink on planes.
On another topic, I'm not sure what you do for work but if it's making you feel ill, perhaps you ought to consider doing something else?
As for the train journey, I see you've not given up the caffeine, then?2018 totals:

I'm working on it, believe me! Part me choosing an ill suited career path, part terrible workplace with poor management and nobody to help guide me in terms of developing the skills I do have.As for the train journey, I see you've not given up the caffeine, then?
The plan was only to cut back, that was my one coffee of the day. I also find caffeine less destructive when it's the weekend/on holiday, as I have next to no life stress beyond the office0 -

Those words could have been plucked from my head Mr E! I fell into my job/segment and now have no idea what to do or how to get out.....0 -
Let me know if you figure it out before I do BW0

Do be careful with the work situation. In my twenties I "fell" into an ill suited career path and by the end of my twenties I had a major depressive episode. Can't say it was entirely due to my job but that did play a major role in triggering what happened. Whilst I'm still not 100%, the best thing I did was to get out of that job and start working for myself.
Nobody is trapped in any job.2018 totals:

I went on to my third career in my early 30s, thats the counselling-type stuff that I still do. When I went onto my postgrad diploma course in my mid-30s, I was one of the youngest there - its never, ever too late to change course.
Of course, what I *should* have done was re-train as an engineer and join one of the private space firms out in the MojaveI met some of those peeps at a Glasgow Worldcon and it would have been entirely possible

I agree it's never impossible to change but you have to know what to change to in the first place
I've never known what "I want to be when up grow up"... perhaps I have just haven't grown up yet :rotfl:0 -

I absolutely agree about it never being too late. Whilst I'm in business now, rather than with a job I often consider what's next. It seems many people end up stuck in a rut, hating their work and burying their heads in the sand about it, I certainly know a few.
My wife is an engineer, she got lucky first time around and greatly enjoys her job.I agree it's never impossible to change but you have to know what to change to in the first place

I can't say I know what I want to be when I grow up, either. Perhaps instead of thinking about what you wish to change to, have a think about what would be both suited to you and allow you to have the lifestyle you'd like.2018 totals:

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
