I had the 12hr version - that was bad enough. Hope you're on the mend.

Feeling much chirpier this morning, thanks all.

Make it to 4 and I'll be even better ;)

We've both been paid now, I declare a retrospective shuffle. Will need to rein it in considerably this month, we spent £1,500+ last month on irregular expenses.

One *very* naughty expense this month will be on a wodge of V1rgin miles. It will be our 5th wedding anniversary next year and I'm gambling on 18mth old toots being well behaved enough to travel. I've opened a new CC for this (10,000 miles if you spend £1,000 within 90 days of opening). So I'll end up with enough miles for 2 business class (sorry, Premium Economy) flights for about £400 cheaper than just buying the flights.

I really must have been away for a while as I didn't realise you had a new thread, I wondered why not many peoples posts were coming up under my subscribed threads. I am currently on page 3 and have a few hours before I need to do anything so am going to get a cuppa and have a read.

I'm sure little toots (I love that!) will be fine by then. My great-nephew who lives in London is Anglo-French, not a year old yet, and he's been back and forth to France at least half a dozen times, on Eurostar and on the plane. Don't think they've driven it yet with him, because they're right by the Spanish border.

And I love the money shuffle to pay for quality seating :j there's nothing like working their system :D

ETA - just remembered about your lurgification - don't do too much too soon!

  • Mr E, sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Only just over an hour to go until 4pm. Have a good weekend.

Excellent plan for the flights and I'm sure little toots will be fine. The airlines make life much easier for those with young children.

    Take care, Tilly x x

My son has been on quite a few short and long haul flights from when he was less than a year old and has always been fine. Children under 2 do not automatically get allocated a seat so we always used to buy him a seat.

Thanks for that. This was a big part of the consideration behind premium economy, Virgin do not charge for infants on laps. Might be quite uncomfortable in economy, but you get oodles of room in the slightly more expensive options (and free drinks) :D

I do agree paying the extra on a long haul flight is most definitely worth it. Though for short haul, I've always put up with cattle class.

As for the free drinks, a few years ago on our first long haul flight with our son, I managed to get myself so pished that I could hardly stand once we arrived at the destination. My wife was most certainly not impressed. :o

Ed have you checked out the option of buying economy and upgrading to business with the airmiles? Not sure where you are thinking of going but I did that for a special trip with American. I know it is not exactly MSE but the upgrade was great and I would NEVER have actually paid for that seat ! (Very little jet lag too as slept happily on way back)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
