sorry guys i just wanted some ideas, that why i posted, no need for this troll stuff!!!!0

I am not sure about the Troll stuff either (I don't think it was aimed at you) - I think the OP didn't believe that the 80 odd % return was believable. However the other OP has justified it. Lets put it down to a miss-understanding.0

If you really had made a 83% gain then you would already know about the futures, spread betting and selling short etc etc.
Thus you sir are a troll. :rolleyes:0 -
Best of luck mate!
to do that you need what say 27-38% to turn 100 into 350-500 in 5 years, and certainly going to have to take some serious risk.
Being very speculative, some of the best funds in the past 3 years have achieved 193% return, so certainly having some serious luck could just about get you there, but past performance is by no means an indicator for any future income.
You say you can only contribute half your income the next 5 years, its reasonable that you may have a total investment of 300-350 in 5 years time.
I'm not going to point out any funds/ vehicles to invest in, but would only suggest that you take caution and invest in a variety of global markets and instruments to act as a safeguard.0 -
Thanks for the response, i gotta admit On the share purchases i have made in the last 5 years i have always got out too early ie made in the 5-15% profit range and then the stock a few years later has doubled or some thing stupid like that. I remember having largish(7k each) holding game(gmg.l) and o2(before the buy out) and look at the rise in there prices!
So what is the most one of you guys and gals has made in the medium term?(2-3 years)0 -
Hi
I have about 100k in a mixture of savings and investments(stocks, cash , premium bonds) and i am looking to get to the 350-500k mark in the next 2-3 years. I am 29 years old and i don't own any property yet. I am looking to retire by the time i am 35-40. Any ideas for some big gains in the next 6-12 months? I earn about 35-40k a year and can invest/Speculate about 75% of my income
Assuming you are able to invest £1000 each month for the next three years, together with your existing £100k, you would have to make a return of 50% per annum to achieve a goal of £500k. This is about three times what Warren Buffet expects to achieve, so that is, frankly, unrealistic. You will do well to get to £200k in that time.
Don't forget you're likely to live another 50 years beyond the age of 40. You may need somewhere to live. If you invest until you are 40, you could well get to £1 million but the value of this will be eroded by inflation and the price of property may have risen considerably.
The best of luck, anyway!0 -
If i wanted to get 500K in 3 years from 100K, I would take the cash to your nearest bookies and put it on a 4/1 shot and if it wins you would of done it in 3 minutes not years.Had £80,000 in Savings - All GONE!!! BYE BYE:A Single, 27, Aspie, Gooner :A0

I have also made 80+ % gains in under a year (on certain investments) but still know little about "futures, spread betting and selling short etc etc"
Even if I did, I might not consider it appropriate to recommend these to a relatively inexperienced investor.
Suppose that makes me a troll also.
You "sir", should grow up (and ejones999 should do the same).0 -
I made 70% in one day once on some shares. I've also lost a similar amount. That's the nature of individual equities.
Is it just me, or do others find some of these Troll alerts and the susequent arguments about it more annoying than the supposed troll message? They can certainly take up more bandwidth!Debbie0 -
Yes- I made about 110% on some of my investments in about 4 months last year, yet am not ready for futures, shorts, etc. (And I am now back down to about 95% profit 9 months after original investment). It's all down to luck and timing and entirely possible. It is just unrealistic to expect it all the time.If you really had made a 83% gain then you would already know about the futures, spread betting and selling short etc etc.
Thus you sir are a troll. :rolleyes:0
