According to the RSPCA it does, and they campaign for all animals to be stunned before slaughter
Which is why the vast majority of abattoirs in the UK stun animals to produce both halal and non-halal meat.It is good thing that people are consuming variety of food e.g. meat, vegetable, fish, seafood. If all people were vegetarian then there would not be enough food to feed every mouth.
Utter tosh.Killing the animal by slitting their throat when they are still conscious is barbaric, an accident way causing "unnecessary" suffer to animal.
In the past there is no other way to kill animal for human consumption. Now we have technology, why do not use to avoid "unnecessary" suffer to animal.
Here is the way the cattle in "INDONESIA" is slaughtered
Due to religious reason, in general the animals in Indonesia are not stunned prior to killing them.
It is so depressing. Animals do not have voice, we do. For those who wants, we could do a small thing to make a difference.
Lets boycott any meat which does not give any warning of the way the animal is slaughtered.
You seem to be confused and not understand that in the UK the majority of animals are stunned prior to slaughter, even when producing halal meat.
There is a small percentage of non-stunned halal meat produced in the UK, but your chance of encountering it is zero, unless you go out of your way to buy meat from a halal butcher.

“If two chickens reared in exactly the same conditions are both electrocuted until they are unconscious and then one goes into an enormous machine which scalds, feathers and decapitates it, while the other goes to a Muslim who happens to be reciting a prayer, why are critics quite content with the former but up in arms about the latter?”0
