Private Parking Charge Scotland - Letter from DRP

Either way, PPCs and debt collectors are powerless in Scotland - and doubly so if you don't contact them to provide an identity they can harrass.
Court action here is like hens teeth, so there really is nothing to worry about.
Get your other half on here if he needs any reassurance and look at the pre-POFA letter chain thread for a fair idea of the rubbish they will send him over the next few months and just tick them off!0 -
Ok - will just ignore all! I am a Paralegal so not worried about Court etc - its just annoying receiving all these letters0

I started my own thread as someone I know has just received a DRP letter. I then saw this one and have deleted mine. My comments are below for the OP's benefit.
DRP have just written to the owner of a vehicle in Scotland for an unpaid charge in Scotland.
They include a paragraph headed "What if you don't pay what you owe", with no question mark at the end. Perhaps they need an English tutor to help.
The paragraph states "If you are liable for this charge and do not pay the full amount by..... or if you have not agreed a payment option with us by then, we will recommend to the creditor's solicitor that court action should be taken to recover what you owe"
As the keeper didn't park they are not calling an 0844 number to discuss a contract they didn't agree to, they are not liable for, and which is purely an attempt at a penalty charge. Finally, as an accountant I know that a creditor is someone who is owed money. As no money is owed they are wrong there too.
I will be interested to see if they try it on in court, especially as the real amount owed is £0.00.0 -
A creditor is someone who is OWED money.0

Do PPCs in Scotland even take the driver to court? Has there ever been such a case? I don't recall ever seeing one.0

It was the irony of your "I'm an accountant" comment that tickled me.0 -
I'm a Government trained Management Accountant so the intricacies of proper beancounting generally elude me!
Doesn't stop the utter embarrassment, though!0 -
Nigel,
I read on here that no-one does court in Scotland. It's a sensible decision on their part as their chances of winning are around the same as my beloved Hibs winning the Scottish Cup!0 -
