  • Well, I have been very lazy of late. With my diary I mean. I have actually been working really hard and getting in loads of overtime. It's payday on Friday and another two payments go out so I will be halfway through. I am hoping to pay off my smaller loan in full in January so that will be a small milestone.

I've also found out I'm getting a pay rise in January of just over 4k so with paying my smaller loan off and this, I should be about 330 better off a month so I should actually be in a position where I am quite comfortable.

All in all I'm feeling very positive.

  • It was payday on Friday so another two loan payments have gone out meaning I've made 19 out of 36 payments towards freedom.

I have spent quite a bit over the weekend as I have had a lot in. I'm still in budget though and can't see me spending too much over the next week.

  • Thank you for posting.

I should start looking at the challenges really. Although I am keeping tabs on my spending and trying to stick to a weekly budget, as my income is at least 400 pounds more per month than when I first started this diary, so I think I'm in a decent place.

Spent fifteen quid in Morrison's today. No more spends planned until my works do on Thursday.

  • A week to pay day and my last two payments of the year and time for a quick look back over the year.

When I started posting back in May I was a bit down at the prospect of having to struggle for ten months then be finally debt free in nineteen months. The first couple of months were a struggle to be honest and I was a bit up down with regards to my outlook.

The godsend for me was the overtime on offer at work which has allowed me to net at least an extra 350 quid a month. Without it I might have struggled. The overtime is still on going into next year so I am able to have a good christmas and in the new year I start my new job with a 5k pay rise.

I will only have three more payments left on my smaller loan and then I will be another 70 quid a month better off so even if the overtime ends I will still be comfortable.

I would have never thought that I would be in this position back in May but I am feeling good and looking forward to being debt free in twelve months.

  • My latest payments have gone out and I have only three payments left on my smaller loan, then I will be 68 quid a month better off.

Since I started this diary almost eight months ago, I have paid off £2,080 worth off debt and I still have another £2,500 to go. I don't like considering these figures but it has to be done. In another twelve month's time I will be 260 a month better off and with my pay rise I should be quite comfortable and won't need to borrow any money. It's this thought which keeps me going.

    Onwards and upwards.

  • I've started the new year on a low point. I was due to start my new job on Monday 5th. I was told at two minutes to five on the Friday before that it wouldn't be happening on this date. The person who was brought in to take over my job started on the Monday as planned, but on Tuesday she was told that she would be moved to a different team and I would be staying in my current role. No one is able to tell me why this is the case, nor will they give me any timescales so I don't have a clue what's going on.

Needless to say, I am very unhappy about the situation. Best case scenario is that it will happen sooner rather than later but I am still losing out on my pay rise. The worst case scenario (and one that I can't help turning over in my mind) is that this is not going to come off for me. I'm already struggling in terms of motivation so God knows what I will do if the position gets taken away. The only option would be to walk away.

On a positive note I am still well within budget for this month with thirteen days to pay day.

  • I've just had a quick look at my diary and I have to say it's bloody boring. No wonder no one is reading it!

Anyway, feeling quite good at the moment. Over halfway through my bigger loan now and just two payments before smaller loan is cleared meaning I will be £68 per month better off. Not a fortune admittedly but all better in my pocket.

Tune in again shortly for another thrilling update...

  • Almost two months since my last post despite saying on numerous occasions that I would try harder. I think the problem is that my situation has changed so much since I started the diary that I think I have lost a bit of motivation.

Well, it's pay day tomorrow so I am going to make a big effort to keep up with the diary for a month. It's also a bit of a milestone as I will have paid off my smaller loan so from next month I will be £68 per month better off.

I will be allowing myself £140 per week this month so I will keep a record of my spends. I have to give my mate £22 tomorrow and it's my Goddaughter's birthday party on Saturday so I will be buying her something tomorrow then it's up to me to manage from there.

  • Big milestone reached today. I have paid off my smaller loan so from next month I will £68 better off. Only nine more payments to freedom.

I've spent £47 today. £17 on shopping which should last all week and £30 for my Goddaughter's birthday. I still owe my mate £22 so that's effectively £70 for the week and I am off out on Friday night so allowing £30 for that.

    Time to update sig.......
