    Gonna try another store but will they know that it's been refused a refund in the original store it was purchased in?

    Probably not; but if the other store is obviously closer, they might ask why you haven't gone back there.
    As said previously, just make sure it's packaged up nicely & don't mention attaching it to your ceiling and you should be fine.
