Argos won't refund Chandelier as they said it's used! Still within 30 day guarantee!

Hi everyone

Am abit annoyed but can someone tell me if it's me who's wrong and I wouldn't be entitled too a refund!

I purchased a Chandelier light from Argos 2 weeks ago and yes I got it assembled and fitted unto the ceiling and didn't like it then as it looked very plastic looking so took it down and packaged it up and took it back to Argos for a refund.

Was told by an abrupt sales member that no you won't get a refund as this item has been used. I said it was only put up unto the ceiling for several minutes and taken down again as it looked very plastic looking and was cheaper looking than what I expected. Was still told no theres nothing can be done as it has been used.

Any views on this as it's still within the 30 day guarantee and I have my receipt!

Thanks

sunni

If it's been assembled and fitted then I can see why they wouldn't take it back.

    From the Argos website:
Most things we sell are covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee, so just return them to us unused, in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition, with your receipt and we’ll give you a refund.

Did you buy online or in store?
The 30 day guarantee is irrelevant as that isn't a satisfaction guarantee, is it? So how long ago did you buy it?

There is no legal obligation for a refund, the 30 day refund guarantee depends on Argos's terms of the offer.

If built and installed its unlikely they would accept it back.

When purchasing goods in store you have no basic right to a refund of goods just because you want it (buying online you pretty much do). You're only entitled if the item is not of satisfactory quality, as described, for for purpose or doesn't last a reasonable length of time. That means you're entirely at the mercy of their returns policy; and as quoted by others, that policy says its gotta be unopened.

    Fair enough.
