Argos won't refund Chandelier as they said it's used! Still within 30 day guarantee!

I think the reason it looks plasticky could be because it's plastic?0

try a different store or buy another one and then return the origional and say
oi this has been used can i have a refund .
So how would OP return the new one?
I am of course assuming that the new one would look exactly like the other one and just as plastic-y. :PYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
return to a different store, dont buy another one, just tell them either you dont like it and they may not open the box, or tell them you opened box and can clearly see that it has been used and it wasnt you.0

Surely you can package it in a way that it would appear unused, thus resellable? If not then you probably don't deserve a refund.0

For those advocating straightforward fraud, you do realise that shops have staff to feed and bills to pay, don't you? So fraud like this means all Argos customers have to pay more because some abuse their generous returns policy, and that makes them less competitive with online, which means a step closer to losing eben more jobs?
Argos have a generous policy they're sticking to, don't penalise them for it!0 -
Their terms require it to be in an unused condition (to allow them to resell). Why can't you disassemble and re-pack it in that condition? Then they wouldn't know that you'd assembled and installed it.
If you can't, for whatever reason, make it look unused and repackaged, then you aren't entitled to a refund as they'll be unable to resell it as new.
Whenever I buy anything, I'm paranoid about unpacking it carefully and assembling it carefully so that I can indeed repack it in the same condition so that I can return it for a refund. Done it many times, including light fittings, furnishings and small furniture, etc. All they care about is being able to just put it back on the shelf for someone else to buy. If they can't do that, then no refund unless it's faulty or misleading description etc when you'd claim under the sale of goods act and not a stores voluntary "change your mind" refund policy.0 -
Would any of the "repack carefully" brigade like to buy something from Argos that someone had "Repacked carefully" I certainly wouldn't, health reasons for one.0

Wasn't it possible to tell that it looked cheap before you attached it to your ceiling?
I recommend BHS for your next light. They have a great selection."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
