Nope Scotrail accept all railcards, they all get their share.

At the moment these are UK national cards accepted by all train operating companies including Scotrail.

Perhaps after independence Salmond will finish "scottifying! scotrail, (Its scotlands railway on trains, St Andrews crosses on seats and inside trains, gaelic signs at all stations etc)

And there will be a Scottish only card?

Apply here for a free 2 month Friends and Family Railcard.
I do this every year to get a discount on my annual one.

How long does it normally take to come through? I know it says by 31/5/14 but wondered if it might be here quite quickly. Thanks.

If you have to travel one way without the child (eg if you are picking up a child from somewhere)
, this is a pain with the Family Railcard, as you will then have to pay full price for that single ticket. You do get the reduction on the return half.
However, if you are in the South East region, (www southernrailway.com) you can buy a Network card (which is £30 for a year - sorry, no reductions that I've heard of). Then you can travel with a child one way, and without the child on the return journey, and you still get discount on your ticket for both ways. The child travels at a bigger discount.

    See http://www.network-railcard.co.uk/ for details.

If you often go from Portsmouth to Milton Keynes, or have to drop children off in London from Oxford, this could save you a lot of money.......

No, I don't work for Southern! - but I couldn't drive all last year and this was a really useful thing to have.

    Hope this helps someone.

At present "Scotrail" Scotlands railway operated by the First group, under control of the Scottish government allow two children travelling with one adult to travel free off peak, on return travel, sometimes cheaper than using national railcard etc

Does anyone know if there is any other way to get a discount on the friends & family railcard? I'm travelling with my daughter on Spring Bank holiday Monday (26th May) and I don't think the card will come in time if I use this offer.

You could get one with your Tesco points if you have any. It will cost £15 worth of points but not sure how long they take. You can also convert tesco points to Red Spotted Hanky vouchers and get £10 worth of travel for each £5 you exchange. They usually go into your account the next day. Hope this helps don't know of any other discount at the moment.

hi all, at the moment if i travel with my kids with southern rail, they go for £2 each (recently increased from £1 each). Am i right in thinking that if i get this railcard, i would be worse off as i would have to buy normal child tickets and receive 60% off these? Or can i still get the £2 child tickets? Thanks x

AFAIK the railcard gets you discount on the prices you normally pay…however, if for some reason they do cancel out whatever offer you use to get the £2 fare and it doesn't work out cheaper with the railcard, just don't use it. Having a railcard doesn't mean you are obliged to use it.

Thanks very much for the info but I don't shop at Tesco. I'll just have to pay full price for the railcard, I'm still saving money by getting one :)

I've had this for the last 3 years and mine had always arrived within a week, I know you can't guarantee it, but I don't think you will have a problem.
