I have a friend that also works there, the wage is significantly better than where I am now and I have been informed by my friend that I will be a long way comfortable. It is 80,000 CHF a year.
However I am not really interested in making that sacrifice if all the extra money I earn is just handed to the OR.0 -

So you'd be earning around £53,000 per year, I know its more expensive over in Switzerland as I have a friend living there but you are still likely to have surplus on a monthly income of around £4,400 if you live on your own.0 -

Yes I know I would but like I say, it would have to be given to the OR, so no point making a sacrifice of moving away from my family and friends if the only person who see's the benefit is the OR.0 -

Depends where you're living and what you're doing but CHF80k isn't going to get you very far. I'm in Vaud canton and lowest paid admin in our office is on CHF90k0 -
It would be Geneve I found that I could get a 1 bed apartment close to centre for 600 CHF per month.0

I'm from the UK and live in Switzerland,in the Vaud (Lausanne).
I was reading in a Swiss paper yesterday that Norway and Switzerland are the most expensive countries the world. This result was based mainly on spending power (not sure how to say that in English-le pouvoir d'achat).
You should look on this website:

There's loads of topics ie cost of living, the language, financial, jobs and it's all in English.I'm sure that you could get some useful advice there.

For 600 CHF you would get a studio flat/bedsit,not a one bed appartment!0 -

In your dreams!
Geneva is full of UN staff and all sorts, so the cost of housing is incredible. You cannot expect to pay less than in the UK.0
