Poundland often have packs of two collars (quick release), I stock up as Lily can go weeks with the same collar or lose three in one week lol!
I have a scout round her patch to see if I can find it otherwise she gets a new one.0 -
Ah poor you. They do scare us when they go wandering.
Just tell yourself he knows where home is, he certainly knows he has two devoted slaves and STOP WORRYING!
I have had cats vanish overnight (was up at dawn hunting for them), went home for a brew and a break only to have them casually stroll in through the cat flap, fill themselves up with a belly full of food and zonk out leaving me tired and relieved in equal measure.
I am used to it now, and you will be soon as well.
Welcome to the mad world of cat lovers!Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Was just having a little go at teaching him to use the cat flap but he really wasn't getting in. Turned away to fill a pan with water, and when I turned back he was on the outside looking in through the flap! Scaled the fence and jumped off into the car park, and no doubt that's the last I'll see of him for a good few hours.
Trying not to worry this time, and certainly don't want it to end with me stalking the streets with a pouch of whiskas again like some deranged catnapper.0 -
I have two cats and one of them never goes far and will always come when called, the other will go for a wander for up to 48 hours. I do feel your pain I really do as DH and I worry no end.
Sometimes it is better just to go out for the day and do something that distracts you and let the cat come and go as he likes and not be there to worry.Debt Free - done

Could you start working on some kind of recall sign such as a little whistle. I would make this noise every time you feed him or give him a tasty treat and maybe, just maybe he will then return when you call him in.0

^^^ Can't hurt to try! If he comes back, I shall give that a go, maybe buy a whistle (can't whistle myself).
Okay so he's been out now for six hours and a bit, I've done a few street walks but I'm keeping it together so far even though I've seen no sign of him.0 -

oh martin - I feel your pain! its like the first time your teenager borrows the car - you cant sit still, you envisage every accident you ever seen (and a few you make up), kidnappers come into the equation along with psychos - who would be a parent hun? its just as bad with your feline children! at least until they train you not to panic. what time does he get fed in the evening? I bet he will be there expecting you to be putting his food on the table (I mean floor, on the floor! unless you.............NO surely not).
keep us posted martin - we all shall all send telepathic messages to Derek telling him his dad is worried and he should go home!0 -
Thanks hun. He usually eat fed around nowish. His food's there in the bowl waiting...0
