Ok. So the cashier mistakenly added up your 7 cheques incorrectly. To the tune of £10k. Once you were aware of the error. You created a lost 8th cheque which you purported to be for the sale of your car. Whereas the cheque for the sale of your car was actually banked with the other 6 cheques. This would explain why you have absolutely no contact details for the mysterious buyer who only ever contacted you. As once they are located. Your story will fall apart.

Good grief. You are even more cynical than I am. :)
  • And customer services would have referred you to the branch you deposited the cheque at.

They did, they tried calling the branch and left urgent messages. They didn't actually speak with someone at the branch until over a week later.

In your fantasies you seem to have missed the simple fact that the receipt shows both the total amount and the number of the cheques.

Oh wow, another person who cannot read....
    There are SEVEN CHEQUES.
The bank added up and deposited SEVEN cheques.
This was written and stamped on the deposit receipt.
They are now saying they made a mistake and only had 6 cheques...
Where has your eighth cheques come from....have a coffee..
I can prove the car was actually advertised and was for sale. I have emails from numerous other potential buyers from when the car was advertise mid march.... The cheques were deposited on the 15th April... I must be a genius if I could have somehow orchestrated all this!

Somebody posted a link earlier to the collection of the most entertaining MSE threads but that link seems to have got lost amongst the continuing noise Angrywithlloyds is creating. Shame really since there are quite a few a lot more entertaining windup threads.

You used your card (as opposed to a paying in book) to make the deposit so usually you will be given a printed receipt.

Does your receipt definitely say that 7 cheques were deposited - or just the total amount?

Yes, both. The amount deposited and the amount of cheques.
"The amount of cheques" does sound odd/ambiguously though...

I get lost in all these wind up threads and they distract me from the real ones!

I don't have, and have never been given a paying in book. This is just a simple card account.
I was given a handwritten stub, stamped by the bank.

Should I have said number of cheques?
