cheap monthly that shows MB remaining? (EE/TM/Org doesn't)

EE/T-mobile/Orange, do not show you how many MB you have remaining.

If I text them - texting AL to 150 it says 500MB. That's just the limit.

If I check online, it says 500MB.

And if I call them, they say they can't tell me / don't know. But that when I use 80% i'll get a text from them.

I would like to be able to text them and see how many MB I have left. I cannot.

I'd also like a network provider that doesn't spam me with texts (e.g. after I call them I get a satisfaction survey text or two, I ignore it then two days later I get one or two more regarding that call)

Yeah they're pretty useless, I find this site works some of the time for my SIM only allowance for remaining data:

http://www.t-zones.co.uk/apps/ebdc/en/status (usually shows my remaining data for each month)
    or
    www.t-mobile-favourites.co.uk

@spanner the website (which you mention), is the way to check online, but as I say, it doesn't show remaining.

On the phone(150) they said that page updates the figure once a month, in my case, near the end of the month, which is around when my bill renews and my allowance gets updated, so it's useless.

If a system wants to show how many MB remaining it should update when you ask how much is remaining. e.g. when you load the webpage or send the text. But that site updates the figure only once a month. That is not what i'm looking for.

I'm really looking for a different mobile phone operator that is cheap and doesn't have those problems. (the spamming and not showing how many MB remaining)
  • My tesco mobile shows me online and on my app exactly how many mins, texts and mbs I have remaining, was so handy when abroad

    dirt cheap too :)

If it's an Android phone the first thing I do is download 3G Watchdog free from play. I then set it in accordance with the mb allowance, bundle renewal date and personal warning notifications on the phone. I put it as an app on the main screen and check it regularly; it not only tells you how many MB you've used this bundle month, but the percentage use and the projected use if it continues at the same rate. It goes back to zero on the bundle date. I have another app which takes care of call useage. It's updated as you go and is also therefore more accurate than anything the network may produce.

I never check my balances with any of the networks I use; I prefer to control things myself - and I do. Since I currently have 8 contracts (less than usual) I never go outside the bundle on anything on any of them. Along with putting secuity locks on both the sim and phone when I get a new contract (unless I'm selling the phone, as I usually do nowadays) it's the first thing I do with a new contract.

@beckstar the Tmob/EE/Orag thing was < £10 a month. I used carphone warehouse and some cashback website mentioned here. It worked out at about 6 or 7 pounds a month. how much was the tesco one?

@mobilejunkie yes I know there are apps. but I want to be able to get the info from the source- The network provider. It's not much to ask. Ovivo said how many MB you had left and recommended "my data manager". A great app but I want to be able to find out from the network operator too. And Tmob/O/EE don't offer that facility.

  • I pay £10 a month for 1gb data, 5k texts and 250 mins calls - the tarriff is £7-50 a month for 500mb and I pay £2-50 for an extra 500mb.

It's http://shop.tescomobile.com/mobile-phones/pay-monthly/lg/l40?deal=13843 deal, but I have a different phone, they offer it on many different phones

I have found them excellent, and far easier to get through to on the phone that EE ever was

Text bundle to 150 (Orange) and you'll receive a text which tells the number of inclusive texts and minutes and remaining MB

    texting 'bundle' does nothing.
I called them they said they'll refresh the system and texting al to 150 may work in 4 hours and it's unusual for it not to update.

anyhow, i'm still tired of the spam. one person there said their manager requested it be stopped, another put a note on the system. And another seemed more of a technical person (I guess I chose different options) he said they don't know the rules for when the system sends texts and they don't control it so they can't do anything about it. He thought it randomly selects people but i've found it has done it for both my calls, totalliny 8 texts, 4 for each.

Does Tesco send satisfaction surveys when you call them? or any excess texts?

I see Giff Gaff is £10 a month for 1GB. Do they send satisfaction survey texts when you call them? or any excess texts?
