Also, the gizmo from Lakeland to raise the bowl is something like £1.99, so not too expensive.
But if I spend £60 I get a free gift, free delivery and £2.40 back from Quidco.... You can see where this is going, can't you.Always another chapter0 -
Don't need a jam setting on my non-existant breadmaker as we always make our jam and marmalade in the microwave. We have a fairly large one, and use the biggest Pyrex bowl they make which just about fits in it. It's a good way of making jam since you never need to stir it and the sugar can't burn. But I agree, I love looking through the Lakeland catalogue. Definitely wouldn't be without the jam funnel. Pouring boiling hot jam into jars is very risky without one.0

I have a plan.
I've read that you can make rice pudding in the jam maker.
We love rice pudding and I like to cook it slow in hte over for about 2 hours.
It's fab, but the dish I use is always a real pain to wash, it needs soaking and scrubbing with a scourer to get everything off. the dishwasher doesn't clean it properly.
So, I've started to leave it for Mr L to do..."because my arms ache, please help me.." whilst at the same time pointing out the jam maker gadget in the Lakeland catalogue and proclaiming, "would you believe it, it makes rice pudding! Now wouldn't that be handy!"

I make out a lakeland wish list, leave it for a few days, then cross off all the things that I could live without. Then look in TK Max, Rober dyas and poundland as they quite often have similar items for less Saves me a fortune as this always reduces the total below the level for free postage and I won't order unless I get free postage.
Unfortunately they have just opened a store at Bicester which is right on the route to my MIL. I must be strong and resist.:D0 -
I went to the website, got up to £8 and then logged out quick. The problem is i've got a lakeland store five minutes walk from my house...i'll have to keep myself busy tomorrow but I do really, really, really need a jug like the one in the sale!!!0

I didnt even see my catalogue as my gran nabbed it, but thanks to this forum i have ordered various sale bits and the jam maker - which, i have to say i am really excited about . My husband just gave me a look!0

I LOVE Lakeland and was really tempted by the jam maker, but I don't find it too much bother to make jam the traditional way so I resisted. The best thing which Lakeland sell IMO is their "Good With everything" seasoning. You get a big tub for £2.99 and it is provence herbs, lavender, pepper and sea salt. I have never tasted anything so delicious ever! I put it on steak and chops before I grill them, on chicken before I roast it and sprinkle it in stews and casseroles. Everyone always remarks on the unusual taste and says how nice it is. I have never seen it for sale anywhere else.Jane

i think the thing that tempted me about the jam maer was that i could go and do other things while it was doing its thing, i have 4 teeney people and its hard to make jam without burning but also safely so this is worth a go.
but you see now youhave mentioned the seasoning i have gone back for another look and found a few more bits i should have bought and i wont have free delivery now with them so i have to wait0 -

Don't get me wrong - I was sooooooooooo tempted (still am!) by the jam maker, but I am total gadgetaholic and NEED to resist the temptation. That said, whilst looking round the site resisting buying the jam maker I still spent £60 (to get the free gift;) ) on stuff!Jane

I'm not too bad in IKEA - it's OH that has trouble there. We'll be going round and he will be his usual non-buying self and then suddenly he'll flip into Sir Spendalot and want EVERYTHING - usually when we hit the kitchen area.
Lakeland, I wouldn't dare go into a shop. My uncle lives near one, and I never call in. If the catalogue is tempting, how am I going to manage in a store.
Do they do whoopsies?
Yes they do - usually tucked away in a corner of the shop somewhere;)0
