Half an hour to spare.. Aldi or Lidl?

Have been into our local aldi once and never again. It was cramped and dark and I nearly got caught up (innocently standing at the check out!) in a fight. Insane place! Maybe other aldis are in better areas than this one. Our lidls on the other hand is bright and spacious and I can get most things there. We love lidl!If you dont know where you are going... Any road will take you there :rotfl:0

I must admit the nearest Aldi at Gillingham isn't very nice as I think its just far too full of stuff stacked higgldy pigglety around the floor ,but I found that the larger one in Sittingbourne is akin to shopping at Carrefour in Calais.Spotlessly clean and very well run.The nearest Lidl to me is at St Peter's Street in Maidstone and its a pleasure to shop there as it too is very clean and well filled shelves and extremely helpful staff make it really nice to shop there. If you find the larger ones I think its often the case.0 -
Lidl 10, Aldi 7... Looking like it will be Lidl this time... Thanks so much everybody! Will try Aldi next time, hopefully sometime in May.0

Probably a bit late to comment but for me it's aldi everytime, the ones near me are next to sainsbobs or in middle class areas, the lidls are older stores (only 2 versus 7 aldis) in erm sink estates.
I've only ever been to Lidl if I've known about a specific product and found them dirty, disorganised and just "icky" xxx0 -
Nope, not too late Annie, thank you. Need to get kids off to school and walk dogs first..
Lidl 10.. Aldi 8!0 -

Went to Lidl, spent £90!!! But for a change I only bought what was on my list or what we will definitely use..
There was an in-store bakery but only bought 3 choc cookies for the kids, the cheese twists looked lovely but I managed to resist.. next time!!
Off now to see how much the equivalent trolley would have cost in Tesco!0 -
Worked out just under £30 cheaper than the equivalent foods in Tesco... not bad! Just need to see how they measure up now!0

Chaliepud,
Hope you found Lidl to your liking. I would have voted for Lidl.
Do my main 'big' shop there and Mr. S for items that you just can't get at Lidl and a local £1 for bulk toilet and kitchen rolls.
I have yet to have anything from Lidl that I wouldn't buy again. I bulk buy fresh meat and then freeze into seperate portions.
let us know what you thought.Jane 21120 -
Hmm, I was hoping everyone would say the same thing!
Will check re an indoor bakery for Lidl. It's the Camberley branches if anyone knows them?
I know of the Camberley branch of Lidl if you mean the one just outside The Atrium... There is not a bakery there but it's a decent enough shop. I have got huge strawbs there for under £1 a punnet! Their deli meat packs are lovely and great value. Really good offers in there too. I've been in a few times and it is never too busy. If you are ever Wokingham way, the Lidl there has a bakery I believe. A friend of mine makes the trip over every weekend.
I don't know the Camberley Aldi so can't help there i'm afraid.0
