Warm Front advice

We too have been waiting months for work to be done we applied for the warm front grant back in January we had not heard from them so in march 2010 i called them and they said they had messed up the paper work etc somehow and that we would have to apply again so march was when we reapplied.
So in may 2010 an assessor came to our house to assess what work needs to be done he then said an engineer will contact us to do the work but the waiting time is 6 months from when we applied.
Ive called warm front a few times to get a progress update we where told in July that they where dealing with the January applicants and that they will be dealing with March's lot in september.
Well its coming up to the end of September and still no contact so I've called them today and they said end of September is just a rough guess and not really sure, so looks like we could be in for an even longer wait!!!!!
Its a shocking system they have with an appalling waiting time, is there anyone else in the same situation who have been waiting since beginning of the yr?
thanks x0 -
we waited 8 months recently, then we contacted our MP within 2 weeks all the work had been done(and to a very high standard)0

would warm front fast track an application for oap's with no heating or hot water, as their system has broken down.
old back boiler, irrepairable.Nice to save.0 -
Don't think they fast track anything for anyone to be honest.
MiL had a leaking cylinder tank which took them over 8 months to repair(believe it or not she doesn't have or want central heating-brrrrrr)
The local MP was involved too but they still took several months after his involvement to sort out this problem0 -

Sadly, I agree with devildog. The best option seems to be involve your local MP. You could try getting a note from you thier doctor's, to show that you are serious about this case, and threatening press involvement sometimes seems to help. It as appalling that these tactics should even have to be considered, but the whole system is flawed.
I wish you all luck. My Mum is now terminally ill and we are glad that we persevered, as at least her house is warm.0 -
I phoned Warm Front in April when my boiler broke down and the local plumber said it was beyond repair. (He was the one who suggested I apply for the grant, bless him!)
I rang them in April and their 'surveyor' came around in late May. I rang them end July to see where I was in the queue and was told that they were processing jobs for people who had had their surveys done in December 2009/January 2010, so the anticipated date for giving me a boiler was November/December 2010.
There's no question of me being able to afford a new boiler. I only earn £14K and have a child and a debt management plan. I'm really glad I qualify for this grant because I couldn't even borrow the money for a boiler - we'd just have to freeze - but I really don't understand why it takes so long. It really feels as though they just want people to give up and find the money elsewhere. That's all very well, but WHERE can you find that sort of money?
After reading these threads I'm wondering whether I really will get the work done in November/December or whether I'll just be fobbed off when the time comes.0 -
i had a warm front heating upgrade 5 years ago where it included 5 radiators--i needed 6 radiators and was ripped off 225 plus tax for just one radiator the pipes were not changed on the system just the radiators and boiler--within weeks my pipes started leaking because they were 30 years old and buried in concrete--in the end i had to shell out for new pipes at skirting board level-
-i am wondering on what grounds i can apply for a new boiler--they installed an old technology type boiler that is not very energy efficient??mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0
