Had Installion by warm front for my mother in law whos 92 brill. She has a three bed bungalow, they installed new boiler plus rads. We had to pay for two extra rads because she had eight in total and they only pay for six. The cost to pay was £300 per extra rad. They done an excellent job yes the pipes are wall mounted but you can pay extra to have them hidden or cover if you wish but to be honest you don't really notice them. A piece of advice when contacting Warm front and to keep you in controll should you take up the gant offer only give them your mobile or landline no so they always have to contact you, then you arrange when they call at a time that suits you.0

thanks for the reply, could you tell me what make of boiler she was offered for this grant0 -
I had a new boiler fitted about six weeks ago. Can't remember what it was but I checked it out when they quoted and it got a good write up. We also got new thermostats and controller and system flushed. Cost us nothing and there was money left for cavity wall and loft insulation. The guys who did it were great, no mess, the put large cloths, well more like a tarpaulin, down so carpets not marked. Really fantastic job, I was nervous as I had heard some bad stuff about Eaga but I cant fault them.Sell £1500

Dear all advice and help most appreciated,
I had my grant approved early in 2007 and still no heating. My boiler is about 45 years old and the assessor advised us not to switch the boiler on.
Situation now is that after complaining a nice man came to survey and rushed through the house, asked me to sign the forms which I did. Now when I read the form, he has recommended that the Central Heating should be repaired.
I am very puzzled by this, the approved grant is for the replacement of the age old system, then why is he recommending repairs? Can any one please shed some light on this, and what should I do about it?

My dad had a new boilder fitted by Warm Front a few weeks ago. When he first applied they said he would have to pay over £1000 so we decided against it. Then they contacted him again and said he would only have to pay £126 !! His boiler was old and parts no longer available so it seemed the obvious decision to make.
In the end he didn't have to pay anything. He's still struggling with the new controls but the work was completed in a day and the workman were excellent.0 -

Hi Seb,
This sounds ridiculous. I would ring Warmfront and tell them. If they aren't helpful, ask for a supervisor and progress it upwards. If all else fails, a letter to the Chairperson/MP and threats of press involvement seem to be the only way to sort things out, sadly. You have to be VERY assertive, sadly, as most people that should be helped by this scheme could do without the hassle.
Good luck,

My husband is eligible for a Warm Front grant because he is in receipt of Attendance Allowance. We have a relatively modern central heating system with a condensing boiler, but my husband is always cold in the sitting room, even with the thermostat on 24°/26° Celcius, and a log-fire burning. I would like to replace the inefficient open fire with a woodburner but, when I spoke with Warm Front, I was told that although they can install coal-burning glass-fronted heaters to replace open fires, they will not install woodburners. Our gas bill in the last 12 months was over £1,500, and burning logs every day is expensive, too. It is difficult to keep the sittingroom comfortable for my husband. Does anyone have suggestions how to aproach this with Warm Front representatives? Would they be allowed to install a fire that burns both coal and wood?0

Hi Jellymid, I have had a nice assessor visit me and it seems they are going ahead with the installation, will give the good news once it is finished.
Karelia, I think your husband may be suffering from circulation problems, hot water bottle or body warmers may be the cheapest option. The other option will be to ask your Doctor and tell him the situation, he may be able to help.

I ASKED FOR AN EXTRA RADIATOR TO BE INSTALLED WHEN IGUANA INSTALLED HEATING IN MY HOUSE UNDER THE GOVERNMENT SCHEME TWO YEARS AGO AND I WAS QUOTED £300 POUNDS. WHEN I SAID THAT IT SEEMED DEAR THEY SAID THEY WERE DEAR BUT THEY WERE GOOD. AS I WAS ALREADY IN CONSULTATION WITH MY MP AND TWO UNDER MINISTERS OVER IGUANA COSTS, THE MINISTERS SAID IGUANA WAS NOT ALLOWED TO SAY THINGS LIKE THAT AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE. TWO WEEKS LATER I HAD A LETTER FROM THEM SAYING THAT AN EXTRA RADIATOR WOULD BE FITTED AT A COST OF £150 IN LINE WITH OTHER QUOTES FROM ROUND THE AREA. MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO GO AND SEE YOUR MP AS MP's FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY ARE GETTING COMPLAINTS ABOUT IGUANA OVER COSTS AND THE QUESTION OF POOR INSTALLATION METHODS.0 -
