My husband always hates getting stuck behind folk that have loads of vouchers and discounted items that won't go through the till, and so therefore hates doing it to other folk. I, on the other hand, have no qualms about using vouchers etc. That is what they are there for.
Hahaha! We use the scan as you shop facility in Tesco and I always have loads of coupons to look through and my husband gets SO embarrassed!0 -

I try to use vouchers etc but the thing I'm wary of is going back in just to use a voucher. I may save x but I end up spending money on things I don't really need so not really saving.

I feel your pain - its a week on and I am still kicking myself I forgot to take the money off vouchers to Pets at Home, when I did my cats' monthly food shop! it would have saved me £2.50! not a lot, but I go once a month and if I used the voucher in the VIP magazine each time over ten months that's £25!!!!!!!!!!!
that is a significant amount to me - the number of books I can buy with that! (from the charity shops of course).0 -

are you joking? do you know how much they charge in late fees? the last time I went they wanted £2 for each book - That's £20 quid - and it made no difference I had been in hospital and couldn't return books on time!0 -

:T I agree. A loyalty card scheme that actually feels as if it is designed, at least in part, for the benefit of the customer. Waitrose is so far ahead of other supermarkets.0 -
I'm exactly like the OP's partner. Life is too short and just as I loathe being stuck in a supermarket queue behind someone that has packed their shopping and while the checkout operator and everyone else waits for them to pay, they spend five minutes sorting through 52 vouchers to work out which ones they can use today, I refuse to do the same to others.
The only time I will use a voucher is when I have pre-determined that I can and have it ready to present, torn out of its book or whatever, before I join the queue, to provide the absolute minimum delay to other shoppers.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Other than it really isnt about loyalty. If you walk in their shop for the first time ever and pick up the card you get the same discount as if you exclusively do all your shopping there for the last 10 years.
At least with other supermarket schemes the more loyalty you show the greater the reward you get in terms of "points"0 -
They give cards cos they want to know all about you.
loyalty schemes cost money so best to go to a cheaper shop to start with and not have to worry about cards and slips of paper.:footie:0
