Three not informing me about price cuts

I moved to a Three One Plan Monthly SIM contract over a year ago, and at the time there was not much effective saving between the one month and a yearly contract, and I wasn't sure what I might be doing in terms of phone upgrades at that point.

As I discovered yesterday, Three had cut the price of the plan to £18 for a number of months, until raising it up to £23, which is still less than the £25 a month I have been paying. When I switched to the monthly contract, I'd been given the impression that the risk I took was I'd be subject to price fluctuations, which I took as an accepted risk. I've received a number of emails from Three over the last year advertising various things, but never any price plan changes. Having just spoke to them, they say they've never told me as they didn't change prices mid contract. Never mind I was on a monthly rolling contract, that this was a price cut, and that the no price change is a recent change (the lady on the phone didn't seem to believe me that I'd had my contract price raised mid way through while I was on a two year contract previously).

I'm rather angry at having paid considerably more than than I should have for a number of months, and Threes treatment of a relatively long term customer. I was also informed on the call that the £23 rate is a loyalty bonus, despite it appearing on their website when not logged in. Hoping for any advice on how to tackle this, thanks.

And your complaint is.....? They didn't tell you?

Tariffs change all the time - your ability to change will depend on any minimum term, so if you were out of this, surely you would then survey the whole market to see who was offering the best deal, not simply go to some marketing mail shot ?

Just as banks play fast and loose with savings rates, they are not obliged at any time to contact you with alternative deals - that's your job.

That said, I still have not found a mobile network that is even close to 3UKs price per Gb... As long as you have coverage that meets your needs, it's an even better no brainer than EE!

I signed up the the monthly deal under the impression from talking to Three that it'd be subject to price changes, which they'd tell me about. That didn't happen as I mentioned.

There is no Monthly Deal - I it is an ongoing deal for the tariff you are on, with a Month's notice for termination - certainly no 'deal'.

I pay them £6.90pm, for a 12m minimum, which then morphed to a 30 days notice period. I regularly pick up the new booklet giving the latest offers, and I wanted the free 0800 etc calls deal. It turns out this isn't for SIM only customers... Yet!

When they do, I won't expect them to contact me - indeed I'd be annoyed if they did. I dislike marketing calls.

But YOU weren't subject to prices changes. As you said yourself, you've been paying the same amount since you took the contract out. Therefore there were no price changes to tell you about.

Well, thanks for the distinctly unhelpful comments, I guess I'm odd for thinking that companies should tell you about price cuts when you're paying for their services.

As for the monthly 'deal', that was how it was sold to me, so please don't be so condescending.

For the price changes, you're also misreading what I said, in that I was told I'd be told if the price changed, as you'd expect. No mention of this only being so if it went up in price.

Read the contract that you signed without reading, and you will find that they must tell you only when the price of (1) your particular tariff (2) rises.

And never believe / rely on anything that any salesperson tells you.

I realise that bit, I think I'd been taken in with how good their customer support had previously been, and the fact I received marketing emails from them about everything else. Thanks for the actual helpful comment.

I don't see which reply was unhelpful, yes you maybe odd in thinking that any supplier of any service, must fall over hand and foot for you to retain you as a customer, the tariff may have changed, but check the name of the tariff has changed too.

Who ever mentioned anything about falling hand over foot? Contact has been made about improvements and other offers in my time with Three, but not this. That's one of the reasons I'm annoyed over this!

Unfortunately people do come on here with issues and then get upset and argue if people don't agree with them. An example from the last couple of days

If you want truthful advice (even if it isn't want you want to hear) then this forum is full of highly knowledgeable people. If, however, you just want people to always agree with you, then ask your friends and family.
