Doesn't feel like it - she cut chunks out of her hair this afternoon. It was nearly waist length - 'was' being the operative word :(

Lucky it was only her hair and no permanent damage... time to keep the scissors out of reach!

My daughter did that when she was about 3, she cut a big chunk off the front, couldn't hide it and it stuck up at a weird angle for months:rotfl:

Make sure to take plenty of photos to embarrass her with when she's older. ;)

She didn't appear to be claiming the right benefits, but this government has bought in a system of paying HB, direct to tenants, so that may be why the rent wasn't paid.

I don't know why they didn't just continue to pay rents, for social housing, direct to the landlords.

Tower Hamlets seems to be very popular, I can't afford to live in London myself, so I don't. Here's a thought if you can't afford to look after and feed your kids, don't have any.

And another thing the council employee who said to the claimant "sadly for you you are working full time so don't qualify" should have said "luckily for you you are working full time and so should be able to sort yourself out".
And the council head of department or whatever he was who kept telling us how the system was failing, I wonder what his salary is? As for the Asian family well done to them for providing so many people with a roof over their heads and as for not being able to speak English I don't blame them I'm sure that they have got on just fine without it.

I caught part of the bit with the chinese woman who was in full time employment as I just got in from work, but I only heard she cannot contact her landlord and the locks were changed. Was she illegally evicted? That is how I read it and would have thought the council would have jumped in on that as it is their responsibility to prosecute and help people get back in, by same day injunction if need be

No, it wasn't, it was bought in to align it with LHA, and make it easier for Universal Credit to function (before they acknowledged the IT system for Universal Credit is no good).

There was also the theory that both private and social tenants could just pay the rent, without the landlord being informed of what, if any, benefits were being paid.

However, this theory might work well on paper, but doesn't seem to allow for people prioritising wrongly, or being gamblers, drinkers druggies or merely f^eckless., and it resulting in either housing or social services having to sort the mess out when evictions occur.:wall:

Although most professionals, in local services, acknowledge that it would be better to pay a lot of rent payments directly to social landlords again, the government refuses to change it back.

I wouldn't think anyone would care much what they are 'costing', any more than most landlords worry about how much they are costing the taxpayer, or their tenant, with their often exorbitant rent charges.

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
