If he's not responsible enough to play fruit machines he's not responsible enough to be drinking unsupervised.
And no, I'm not a holier than thou - its just that your logic fails all reason/logic (unless you're a troll, then of course it makes perfect sense).
My parents allowed me alcohol (within reason obviously) as a child and when I got to a teenager I was given more or less a free reign (mum didnt like it but dad said I needed to learn my limit). To this day I have never been so drunk that I have needed help getting home or couldnt remember the night before - I was always the one looking after my friends - who hadn't been allowed to drink alcohol when growing up and didnt know where their limit was.
I don't see a problem with a 16 year old having a few drinks in the pub (even more so if you consider that a 16 year old is permitted wine/beer/cider with an evening meal when ordered by their accompanying adult). And yes its even legal to give children as young as 5 alcohol when on private grounds - although I daresay at least a few posters here would be horrified by even the thought.
Tbh I think the UK is wrong in a lot of ways when it comes to kids. We tend to hide things from kids that we dont want them doing - instead of educating them about it. You're also doing the same by trying to shield your son from his actions - let him learn or keep him under your skirts, up to you.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
