E-On said to ignore their letters and they would stop. I didn't think they also meant ignore any letters from some debt collector company that they pass the investigation on to.0

Ignore the above, it will end up your supply been cut off. ...
You will have plenty of correspondence warning of any intended disconnection (if any).
In the most unlikley event you do receive a disconnection notice from your supplier, refer to this

No reason not to ignore them, especially if you don't owe the money.
(Seems like they don't even know who owes the money if they are not writing to a named person or persons)
But telling them you don't owe the money, and why, should stop further contact from them0 -

All a bit too Martha Costello for my liking.
I think a simple letter confirming your name and ownership with date effect from will suffice
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially in legal matters0 -
Hi Martin and thanks for emailing. I've just replied.
Thought I'd pop a few details on here for the benefit of others.
When someone leaves a property owing us money and doesn't leave any forwarding details, we'll first try and find them. If we fail, we'll usually pass the debt to a Debt Collection Agency like LCA.
LCA will do various searches including one through the Land Registry. These searches may turn up a number of people who've been associated with a particular property, often including former residents.
Letters similar to the one you've posted above are sent to each person identified asking for information to help trace those responsible for the debt.
Although contact from LCS about this will eventually stop, the quickest way to bring this about is to let them know you weren't responsible during the time in question.
Without breaking data security, we'll have already given them certain information. They are, though, an independent company with their own ways of working. Contacting them directly is the quickest way to end this.
Martin, I do appreciate the frustrations caused. Particularly as this type of issue is often caused by someone else failing to take the right actions when leaving a property. Hope my email reply helps.

Ignore this. It's alarmist and factually incorrect.

I wouldnt ignore it, as it can lead to discon the op never stated in the first post if she was paying another supplier. Also the notice could of been in another letter. And yes I deal with warrants at court on a daily basisDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Hi Malc,
I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my email about this and to respond on this thread - thank you. I will follow the advice I have received.
Thanks to everyone else too for putting my mind at ease about this - I am very wary of debt collection agencies!!
Cheers0
