Yes, I know, looking back, it's only a month later than I had originally planned, but it means savings won't get started until later than planned.

Typing is very cathartic, it's not that bad, more, as I said, not being where I thought I was going to be.

Anyway, when I am debt free my budget for groceries and spending money was due to go up by £50 each a month, so that's back down, what was going in to the savings is going on debt, and the budget for a new mattress has been brought down, so it's ok. Deep breaths and repeat, it IS ok.

Popping in to say hi - hope the ppi comes through for you, i'm another spreadsheet junkie! It's addictive!
    Living the simple life
  • Spend Free Day plus made £14.48 on eBay.

In addition am not diminishing any grocery supplies as watching Hinterland which means

    1. I can't look away in case I miss any subtitled bits.
    2. I can't go into a room on my own as it's giving me the heebie jeebies
    And
    3. It's very good.

So, new money saving tip - watch tense thrillers, preferably with subtitles and you won't spend a penny (unless there's a very scary bit and you have a Tena moment).

Another non-spending day. Yay. Posting off all my eBay sales tomorrow (pay day) so will send the PPI letters at the same time.

May is all menu planned and shopping put in to MySupermarket so super strict shop planned for tomorrow evening. Zero list deviation allowed. Husband gets distracted from putting things in the trolley by playing with the scanner, so we're very good at staying on list and budget.

Have just 'saved' my husband £120 today. He was going to buy the Insanity workout DVDs in a pre-summer fitness drive, but a friend has them, so we've borrowed them (I say 'we', I'm not planning to participate) and as a thank you I've parted with one of my bottles of homemade sloe gin!

When you make a money saving suggestion on Twitter to a frugal blogger and you're thanked as they hadn't thought of it.

    That.

The debt free date... does this include snowballing - where when one debt finishes, you use the money that would've gone towards the first debt to pay off the second debt quicker. Then when that's finished you use debt 1 & 2's money to pay to debt 3 etc.

I'm quite looking forward to reading your journey.

Hi Elfy. Yes, it does. I have been snowballing for about three years from before I transferred all my credit cards on to the IF Barclaycard. I was paying the most onto the one with the highest interest rate and just above the minimum on the others (I had noticed one of the credit reference agencies recorded if I only paid the minimum). That will be the last thing I pay off as is IF until 2016, although plan to be free of it well before then.

I know I'm not being as 'hardcore' about it as I could be, but have made the decision, personal to me, to spend on certain things and these are budgeted into my plan.

Payday dance! I imagine it being something Doctor Who-esque - arms straight in the air waving from side to side and bendy knees.

Barclaycard and Tesco CC payments made today. AA Loan comes out tomorrow (but have updated my sig anyway).

May is an 'expensive' month as we have 2 weekend trips to Devon coming up for a birthday and a wedding, but all budgeted for. Was quite nice as my account still a gap between the balance and the end of the overdraft at the end of the month, but that was money to be carried over to May ready for the outings.

Ebay sales posted as well as PPI claim forms. Big shop for the month to do tonight and the Pay Day flurry of activity settles down.

Grocery shopping part one done. Took the MySupermarket list for Tesco around Lidl, comparing prices and picking up anything that was cheaper. Have saved £5 and got bigger quantities of some bits. Hurrah.

Emergency toast needed for part two in Tesco in a bit.
