On another note, since moving we've started shopping at Aldi, wow what a saving!!! We didn't do it because we had to save money, we did it through choice!
We used to shop at Tesco and get it delivered. now we write a list of things needed and once a week I drive a different route home from work and stock up. If anything we have had a few more nice desserts, drinkies, and treats and the cost of the monthly shop has still reduced by roughly half, brilliant!0 -
We have switched to Aldi too, cutting our grocery bill in half and we are not having to give up anything. We grew tired of being ripped off by the big 4, we don't miss shopping with them at all..

I was shocked and very excited/pleased when I saw how much we save and I like the food.
Morning all,
I didn't have a great nights sleep last night, my little dog is easily spooked and the rain was hammering on the window last night, consequently I was still up with him at 2am. Lucky I've got today off because I'm shattered. When I don't sleep well it's easy to feel low. I'm feeling a bit down because the fruit machine I've listed on Facebook for sale looks like it's actually sold and I was unsure whether to sell it haha. I've had it for the last couple of years in my garage (man cave) and hardly used it. Now I've moved I currently have no man cave and it doesn't go right in the dining room!! The way I look at it is that I could do with the money, if I end up missing it that much I can buy another later on...
My dd's went off today for house bills etc, I've paid another £100 off the CC1 to bring it down to £1600 but am now worried I may have left myself short for the month. I'll just have to be careful.
Next month I will break the debt payments down over the month just in case of unforeseen expenses. I am only feeling short now because to clear the loan I had to make 1 payment of £685.78 on pay day so the money barely touched the sides of my account before going.
Have a good day everyone. I'm going to try and motivate myself to get a couple of bits done on the house, it might not happen though

The only thing I don't buy from Aldi's is cat/dog food. I have 1 cat and 3 dogs and am very fussy what I feed them. Lots of savings to be had from zooplus if you buy in bulk..:j

I agree on the dog food front, I only feed my little fella a good certain brand. Thanks for the info regarding Zooplus, I was buying from petsupermarket but Zooplus looks cheaper

Afternoon all,
I've not had a great day today, I wish my lottery win would hurry up so that I could give my job the two finger salute hehe. Actually I don't even want a lottery win, I just need to find a nesh in the market and then become my own boss haha.
Anyway today isn't helped by the fact that I feel yucky, It must be Man flu!!!
I took my two staff members out for coffee and cake this morning to boost morale. The bill of £13 reminds me why I don't do that very often, what a rip off coffee shops are!
Sorry for the moans but it's one of those days! Still, onwards and upwards and tomorrow is Friday
I've contacted a skip company as have an old bathroom suite and tiles etc to get rid off from doing the bathroom as soon as we moved in (It was dire) so I'm after quotes. I expected it to be around £100 but others have told me to expect £250-£300
I'm debating whether to just do lots of trips to the tip in the car?!
I logged into online banking to confirm CC1 had received it's payment which it has. So nice to see the balance at £1600 as opposed to the £2434 it sat at last month!
Anyway, I'm off for a bath and a chilled evening ready for what tomorrow brings. (wow, I've just re read this sentence and realised I sound about 60 instead of 31 lol, I had a tough paper round!
)
Thanks for reading.0 -
You old paper boy you. Trips to the skip it is, well I did that. Actually smashed up the loo and put it in my wheelie bin, it was light and got away with it lol. Tiles put a bit in the bin now and again. Managed to get the bath into my Ford Focus easily,
Well still behind your figure but today I reached 6854.47 so made up to be under the magic 7k figure.
Next time just take a cake into work under 2 pounds - cake is cake. I would be grateful for any.
Have a great weekend.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Or if the bath is too big for your car, can you borrow a bigger car (friend, colleague?). Alternatively, our local council do a collection service of big stuff for free - have to leave it outside on the day arranged. Give them a call to find out if they do the same in your area.
Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -

Well done for getting under 7k, what a great feeling huh
Yes I think I will try and shift as much as possible to the tip tomorrow by car, the bath should fit, if not I could break it up.Ali-OK wrote:Alternatively, our local council do a collection service of big stuff for free - have to leave it outside on the day arranged. I didn't think about the council, I shall have a browse on their website, thanks.
Ahhh Friday... Hopefully I'll get a lot of the rubbish shifted tomorrow and that will make me feel better, I might even load the car up tonight ready for the first run.
Hopefully the fruit machine will be collected and paid for tomorrow also.

Evening all,
I've had a really productive day. Between me and my wife we have managed to get rid of all the old tiles and rubbish from the old bathroom including the bath (it did fit in car)! Other than fuel costs and physical effort it didn't cost anything.
It took 3 tip runs but it's done :j
We even ripped up and took the old carpet from our bedroom ready for decorating. I'm feeling rather tired and smug.
Other than that I have mowed the lawn front and back and have filled the bird feeders.
Only negative is that the guy wanting the fruit machine hasn't contacted me to arrange to collect today as agreed so that might not be going.
I've just put a chocolate guinness cake in the oven (the only cooking I do) ready for a birthday party we are attending tomorrow and have just sat down with a guinness
Apart from fuel for the car and mower (both already had some in tank) today was a no spend day also.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.0
