Thanks for the messages of congratulations guys
Baby is due in June.
I have paid down CCX a bit so total on that card now stands at £1945 (under 2k). CCY has had £57 thrown at it also
I've also started a baby fund for when the household income drops (eek!). So far it's got £200 in it.
I've also just switched our joint account from santander to first direct so will hopefully get a nice little switch bonus shortly.

Just thrown a spare £50 at CCX
Balance now £1895.

Slight amendment in my favour, I've just found out my CCY has a balance of 1216 on it, £20 less than thought. I got confused because I also had joint spending on it that I had miscalculated.
If all goes well then next month I should have under £3k of CC debt..0 -
Hi All,
Sorry for lack of updates.
Just after my last post life threw me a major curve ball...
The baby we were expecting decided to make a very early appearance and was born extremely premature. I'm pleased to say that my son is still fighting three months on and is currently stable in hospital (a miracle in itself).
Obviously this has had a massive impact on my finances with Mrs SouthernGuy starting maternity leave 4 months early.
My credit card debt now stands at:
CCX: £1461
CCY: £3190
Annoyingly this has increased rather than decreased and I have to admit it wasn't all on just necessities, there was a couple of big treats in there to cheer us up.
In the baby pot the balance stands at: £330
There will be other purchases but I plan to sit down and redo my budget at some point over the next few days to accommodate it all.
Stressful times but I'm just grateful Baby SouthernGuy is still here
The next few months will be difficult.0 -
Congratulations and welcome baby southernguy to the world. Babies turn your life upside down without being that much premature. Hope he goes from strength to strength and you get to take him home soon.
Can see how stressed you must of been, little spending allowed to treat yourselves.

I love diaries on here. They are so much more real than what youd expect. Real life happening to people whilst trying to get your finances on track. It's hard because we are the 'naughty ones' that know how easy it is to have what we want now. We do stumble but we get back up.
Congratulations on baby. Sorry his arrival hasn't been quite as anticipated. I swear they want to catch you off guard with everything. Every day he gets stronger. Stay strong southern family. You'll be back on track once life stops being crazy. Well... itll never be normal again but you know what I mean. Lots of love xxx
Ps hope that new car of you can fit in a car seat xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

Thank you
I've just paid £161 off CCX to bring the balance to £1300.
I haven't sorted budget yet so doubt I'll make any further payments to it until next payday. I have put another £100 in the baby pot though
Our little dog is unwell so I've booked a vet check up for tomorrow which will no doubt result in unexpected spending. We have pet insurance but there's still the excess.
Our baby is a little unsettled at the moment in the hospital so we are just struggling to balance everything.
Fun times..0
